Don't know if this is true, but it would make sense as to what the last spark looked like according to Overbuild, being all misshapen and with damage - probably a reference to the first Maelstrom."

After the Ninja team join the Nexus Force at Crux and manage to turn the tables against the Four Oni Horsemen, Ikusa decides to attack the unprotected Ninjago City after they prove to be a real threat to them and the Maelstrom Horde.
