Our hearts go out to all the families especially the young children who had very little prior to the typhoon. Please keep them in your prayers, there are many small ways we can do to help. #UNICEF always has outstanding programs that deal with providing help to Street children in the Philippines. Much much Love
In general there are fewer girls than boys actually living on the streets (studies indicate between 3% and 30% depending on the country). This is for several reasons: In many cultures, there is much greater pressure for girls to stay at home than boys. Research shows that girls will put up with abuse at home for longer than boys but that once girls make the decision to leave home, the rupture is more permanent than for boys. Girls are also less visible on the streets as they are often forced or lured into brothels and prostitution.
The hardships endured by children in poor communities are often concealed – and thus perpetuated – by the statistical averages on which decisions about resource allocation are based. Because averages lump every- one together, the poverty of some is obscured by the wealth of others. One consequence of this is that children already deprived remain excluded from essential services. -Unicef
Born into brothels was my first introduction to the reality that young children face in areas where poverty is all they know. Prostitution, Drugs and violence is all they see, day in and day out. I don't know if anyone knows exactly why I am so adamant about creating a project that helps children with the arts. I'm sure most of you have come up with the obvious assumption, from helping to inspiring Kids. And yes these are exactly some of the many reasons why this project means so much to me. But Another reason for me is that for urban city kids (like myself and where I grew up) you become accustomed to a specific pattern of life, and you become almost accepting of the violence around you, never giving it a thought that things don't always have to be and stay like this. When I was finally introduced to art it changed everything for me. I am no longer a stereotype because of this introduction. This is exactly what I would love to bring to children everywhere! I want to add something (art) to the equation of their daily lives that will forever change the outcome, hopefully in a positive and life saving way. This alone would make my life worth living for.
Children are a wonderful gift. They have an extraordinary capacity to see into the heart of things and to expose sham and humbug for what they are. Desmond Tutu
We must take care of each other .
One of the many things street children are also vulnerable to is soldier recruitment (child soldiers) Children described as child soldiers engage in a range of tasks: laying mines and explosives; scouting, spying, acting as decoys; couriers or guards; training drills or other preparations; logistics and support functions, portering, cooking and domestic labor. Child soldiers may also be subjected to sexual slavery or other forms of sexual abuse. (Information source : Destiny's children)
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
There seems never to be a still second at Kolkata's Sealdah station, barely a moment of pause amid the constant noise and friction of people and cargo in motion. Every day more than 120 trains come and go from the 15 platforms here. It is among the busiest stations in Asia. This hub is also a place of danger, not least for the hundreds of children who call the station their home. At any given time you will find countless children frantically trying get their hands on a few rupees by foul means or fair, and at any moment those children could fall victim to numerous dangers. There are drugs, sexual abuse, violence from their parents, from other adults or from children just like them. - ANDREW BUNCOMBE

Street children in any country are, by their unclear definition, alone to fight their fate - unicef Photography by : Dario Mitidieri
It's not about making a grand gesture, or about attempting to make everyone shift to ones own personal perspective, it's about changing ones own personal ideals and creating a Drastic change from within, to allow this to propel you towards a more conscious humanity that may also someday inspire and inspire and inspire and.... Eventually Create a more desirable place for our Kids...
Artist/photographer Photographing the Street Children of Bombay By Jake Lewis In any society, where you come across poverty, you will also encounter the children growing up in it. Photographer Dario Mitidieri travelled to Bombay and documented the children who live on its streets, are confronted with paedophilia, drugs and incurable diseases on a daily basis. He gathered the hair-raising photographs and stories he heard into a book, which is called Children of Bombay and was first published all the way back in 1995 -Vice
