mina dissociates a lot actually. she’s supposed to lead the sailor senshi, defend princess serenity, and somehow also be the loving and delicate princess venus. it’s said that she’s literally the reincarnation of aphrodite (can’t remember if it’s aphrodite or venus tho), im not even joking. so she’s expected to be this hardass leader and guardian one minute then be a soft, delicate little goddess of love the next. she can’t change like that. she refuses to change her personality like she changes her clothes. later she becomes both a woman that blows kisses to u and beats ur ass all at the same time. but in her teen years she struggles a lot with finding herself and wondering who venus really is.

I feel like if you really want to appreciate the difference between Usagi and Minako, all you have to do is look at the first few pages of their respective comics.

Usagi’s very first appearance is of a girl who slept in late. Minako’s very first appearance is of a girl who is a huge damn showoff. She’s athletic. She’s confident. She has to go first. She has to overdo it. Minako wants to be the best, and more importantly, she wants everyone to see that she’s the best.

Or to put it even more succinctly: Minako is introduced in a gym uniform. Usagi is introduced in pajamas. Minako is that girl who shows up to your classes looking irritatingly healthy and radiant with a gym bag and a bottle of water and her makeup somehow perfect, wearing yoga pants that looked like they were made to perfectly accentuate her butt, and you just know she got up early to work out while you just rolled out of bed 20 minutes ago, and even though you kind of resent her she’s nothing but nice and cheerful so of course you lend her your notes every time she asks.

full offense but minako is so alienated from love don’t ever think her ‘ ability to make everything romantic ‘ is just some cute quirk.    she literally clings to the IDEA OF LOVE as if it’s the holy truth or something.    she was brought up on venus with the idea that she was a goddess,    so no one was good enough for her.    that’s her kingdom’s view on her.    sure,    that’s good    &    all.    but she felt so lonely    &    deprived of basic friendships even.    until she met usagi who literally doesn’t give a shit,    she’s so all-encompassing    &    she makes u feel wanted,    comfortable    &    happy.    but after that ?    she can give great love advice,    but the girl has barely explored love for herself.
