Damian went dead silent as well.  Partially out of embarrassment and partially out of worry.  Of all the people who could’ve…  Damian thought to himself, before realizing that he needed to go right into damage control mode.  “There is a more rational explanation for this.  I am wearing a mask that resembles the visage of your friend.  All those facts are pure coincidence, no more, no less.  And how did you come to the obviously false conclusion that my father is Batman?”  Damian lied, poorly, obviously flustered.  

“Nuh-uh! I know a mask when I see one and this is your real face!” She exclaimed reaching to pull at his cheek just to prove her point. “And don’t worry I won’t tell anyone. Scout’s honor. I’m just happy to know I was right! I mean, it would have been nice if I had found evidence to prove my theory like a real detective but at least me theory was right!”

Damian didn’t think he’d met all of those people yet - Olive he knew, she was the one his father had been keeping an eye on. Tristan might be someone his father had been watching too, and he remembered Kyle. He’d knocked him out last time he’d met him.

He raised his eyebrows as Maps explained some of the weird things that happened in Gotham Academy. “Well, that all sounds.. eventful.” Maybe school wouldn’t be as boring as he’d feared.

“It certainly was! Oh we also had a radioactive villain from the future who showed up to kill a student because his kid’s destined to be Batman in the future or something like that. Future Batman made me promise not to tell anyone which student though.”

With her ACTIONS and personality she would be cut out as a teacher. ’ No I’m just sight seeing around this school, ADMIRING the architecture just looking around maybe you can give me tour you seem like s bright pupil that knows this place like the back of her hand. ‘

By the time Maps had warned Damian about his mask, a gust of wind blew through the air, taking Damian’s mask along with it.  It was too late to conceal his identity now.  “…Damnit.”  Damian muttered.

Maps went dead quiet, face somewhere between disbelieve and astonishment and gloat worthy satisfaction. “I knew it! I mean I didn’t know know it but I totally knew it! The way we took out my zombie friends, the fact that you had a grappling gun, and when you gave me the batarang! Besides after I became friends with Damian Robin started being friendly to me and left me that book. And then when we took out Two Face together was almost a dead giveaway but I never had any actual proof! But I was right! You’re Robin! Which means your dad is Batman!”

“The Detective Club?”

Damian had very little experience of interacting with people his own age, and he knew he still wasn’t good at it. He honestly wasn’t sure why Maps was still pleased to see him, but hopefully the other people in this club would be similar.

“Who else is in it, then?”

“It’s me, Olive, Kyle, Colton, and Pom. Sometimes Tristen when he gets begrudgingly dragged along.” She listed off with a grin. “It’s a lot of fun, and there’s a lot of weird stuff going on around Gotham Academy from librarian witches to secret passages under the school to ghosts to strange fires. Lots of fun. Though we’ve already solved the ghost one and the strange fire and the librarian wasn’t actually a witch she was just using technology to brain wash us so we would burn books for her.”

Damian couldn’t help a slight smile at Map’s enthusiasm. “I’ve been allowed back into the school.” He told her. “But.. probably up to no good soon too. So.. both?”

“I, uh… I mean thank you for the kind words.”  Damian answered, somewhat… stammering in response to Maps’s statement about the gift he had given.  Damian took off his hood, revealing that his mask was slipping off, as the adhesive was starting to wear itself off.  “How are you?”  He asked.

“I’ve been great. Oh, careful, your mask is slipping. Not that it wouldn’t be totally awesome to know who you are or anything.” She wasn’t about to let that slip, she’d rather figure it out for herself, which she felt like she was close to doing but all she had was circumstantial evidence and baseless guesses. Maybe someday.

Damian’s face turned red as soon as Maps hugged him.  Damian, for everything that he’s seen, including a personal hell tailor made for him, was still uneasy when it came to displays of affection beyond a handshake.  “No.  Gotham’s quiet tonight, and my fath- I mean Batman, told me to find people my age, something about ‘making friends’ and the like.”  Despite his words, he was glad to see Maps.  Though he’d never admit it, something about her just put Damian at ease.

“Wait, you were told to go make friends so you came to me? That’s so cool!” She shouldn’t be too surprised, not after the book he had given her. Speaking of which- “Oh, thanks for the book by the way! It’s like my favorite possession now. That and my set of iridescent dice that Kyle got me for my birthday.”

Gotham Academy.  Damian rather briefly went here.  It lasted no more than a week, at most, but he was a former student here.  That being said, he had made a friend during his time though, something unexpected, even by his standards.  Since He was in this part of town, might as well pay her a visit.
