((Hey guys, I said I'd be back yesterday, but honestly? While on my hiatus, I realized this community is one of my main sources of stress. I mean, we all came here to have fun, but right now I just feel so.... unwelcomed. I'm pretty sure by now drama revolving around me has passed, but I've yet to make amends with those involved.

Just, this is a public apology to those involved, and an announcement this blog (and Ricken) is under an indefinite hiatus. I'm so sorry about everything I've done, how I can't keep my word, and whatnot. I'm honestly just too scared to come back.

I'll probably come back on a new blog. I might remake this one, but I've also wanted to try out a new muse. I just really want to start from scratch and pretend none of this ever happened. All I can say is I'm sorry, and I'll take my leave.))

Takumi:

The Hoshidan royal blinks at the child, lifting a hand to press to his cheek. Fingers touch wet skin just below his eye, proof that he had been crying. The nightmare had impacted him that much, to the point of him crying in his sleep.

Hands are clenched into tight fists, nails digging into his palms. “I’m not crying. I was not crying..” An obvious lie, but he can come up with an excuse to explain the tear streaks on his face. “I… I just had been too tired that my eyes watered in my sleep. Go back to bed, Dwyer.”

Dwyer watched tentatively as Takumi brought a hand to his cheek. The child could see the residue of tears in the faint moonlight, but despite this, the Kinshi Knight was refusing to admit it. The boy grasped his hands behind his back, a worried yet tired expression remained upon his face. The blanket around his shoulders fell to the floor.

"I heard you whimpering though… Should I get you water? Papa is teaching me how to be like him."

He turned to pick up his blanket, now hugging it instead of wrapping it around himself once more.

{❧} —- “Hey, are you the new person in the army?”

Ricken was once again looking up at someone, and that annoyed him slightly. At least he was used to it so it wasn’t that bad.

He had heard that there was someone new, and he went looking for them once he was sure that there actually was a new person. He hadn’t seen the person in front of him before, so he figured this was the one he was looking for.

While Dwyer preferred the comfort of the Astral Planes, he was used to the idea of camping. It wasn't his cup of tea, but he couldn't complain when it's the only shelter available. After being taken to his tent, introducing his steed to the other horses, and shown where the Mess Tent, Medical Tent, and barracks were, he was left to himself. It was all rather tiring, but rather than settling under a tree to rest, he was stopped by a young boy.

He'd question as to why Chrom was appointing children, but he was well aware he might as well be called a child himself. Eyes trailing down to the boy, he leaned against the tree he wanted to nap under.

"I guess, why?"

The Wary:

As the Great Knight looked the tired young man dead in the eye, he sensed something eerily familiar. Frederick couldn’t be entirely sure, but it looked to be a profound sense of confidence. From where that look was familiar, the lieutenant couldn’t quite place, but for all of Frederick’s promises of wrung necks and forced expulsions, Dwyer seemed wholly sure of himself. He must have fancied this to be some cup of tea.

“Well then, I suppose it’s time,” spoke the knight as he raised the cup to his lips and drew a dainty sip. That was all it took. With his brows raised in astonishment, Frederick looked down into the piping hot beverage and then back to Dwyer. 

“Superb,” he marvelled, taking another sip of his tea. “This may very well be one of the best cups of tea I’ve ever had. You said you used spices from your homeland, correct? Where exactly might that be?”

Dwyer awaited patiently for the Great Knight's evaluation. However, in those moments before he took the first sip, Dwyer noticed the other shifting his gaze to him. If he wasn't intimidated by this man before, something about that sharp stare unnerved the young steward. Yet, he kept to his position, pretending he wasn't even a tad worried.

Still, he couldn't hold back a sigh of relief after seeing the other's look of astonishment. A tired smile graced his features-- he knew it was worth the gamble. Even as the lieutenant's eyes darted from the beverage to the Troubadour, Dwyer's gaze remained fixed upon the man before him.

Then came the praise. It was very much welcome; and coming from a so-called tea connoisseur like the Great Knight, it made it all the better. Rather than gloating, Dwyer merely bowed, allowing his smile to fade.

“I’m glad it was able to meet your expectations.” He rose, “Yes, they come from Nohr."

Stranger:

                          shivering, shaking, Lyon stumbled towards the troubadour, his head a mess of lingering, warring thoughts.  the blood – his blood – was responsible for his lapse in clarity, and all he wanted to do was throw up.  but the vessel was dying, and he was urged forward under a control that may not have been his.  it was a survival urge, and Lyon wasn’t sure if he were himself if he’d still really have such a drive.

❝ a healer…  please, sir, i’m…  nngh, i need… ❞

He never wished upon innocent bystanders to get caught up in the fighting, but there was nothing he could do but try to protect them as best as he could. However, he hadn’t thought anyone would come crawling to him while the violence was very far away from civilization. Yet, here he was, face to face with a bleeding man, pleading for help. Feeling quite unnerved in the current situation, he took a deep breath.

“Please, remain still.”

It was more difficult to concentrate through the noise, but he was quite used to it at this point. As the healing spell was being cast, the orb of the Mend Staff began to glow as Dwyer raised the Staff over his head. While he couldn’t mend every wound, most were beginning to close up.

Strange Man:

        ❛ Hey, look at that! They usually fly away when someone else is hangin’ around! ❜ Despite how true that usually is, the single crow is still perched on his shoulder, lackadaisically tolerating the other’s presence. ❛ Neat! ❜ 

While waiting for sleep to claim him, Dwyer rested beneath a tree, tired eyes scanning the camp grounds before him. With a deep breath, he stretched. He still wasn't entirely certain where everything was, but he figured once he was more awake and knew where he was going, he'd head to the Mess Tent to brew himself some tea. Those idle thoughts kept him from dozing off, but they also kept him from taking notice of incoming footstep.

The voice of a young man pulled him into reality, catching off-guard. When the Troubadour glanced over, the Dark Mage had made the comment of how his crow friend hadn't flown off. Unfortunately, the young steward was still half-asleep.

“Mm?”

Not-Father:

Leo had to stop a smile from gracing his face as the boy before him yawned. The child looked to be on the verge of exhaustion and yet he spoke to the prince as if he were wide awake and attentive. What sort of child did Jakob end up conceiving?

“Ah, I’m sure it will come to you with age.”

Especially since he was the son of a butler. No doubt he would end up in the same profession. Most of those in Nohr never left the social standing left behind by their parents. Dwyer was no different.

“I would offer to make you some myself but I’m afraid I am no better.”

He began to sink into a slouch, rubbing his eyes with a tiny grumble. However, a moment later, his father’s teachings came to haunt him. The image of his father scolding him for such terrible posture came to mind. Wanting to be as successful as Jakob, he strained to fix himself.

"I hope so…" he added absently.

It didn't surprise him to hear the other was unable to brew coffee, even if it didn't look too difficult when he watched his father prepare it for him.

"It's alright; I didn't expect you to."

The boy began to believe he had been away for quite some time. Glancing over his shoulder, he wasn't sure whether or not he should head home.

Queen Camilla:

“I see.” She hummed thoughtfully, finished with her task and returning to her desk. The Nohrian Queen then proceeded to take a sip of the tea, pausing. Why, this was absolutely wonderful. Camilla knew Dwyer had a penchant for making wonderful teas, but this was the first she actually got to sample it since his employment. She had always been fond of the previous maker of the teas, but well; when one was found guilty of treason off they went to prison.

Ah. Speaking of.

“… Does it bother you that you are here in Nohr, and your family in Hoshido?” She asked, finally after a period of silence. “Or would you prefer to not have ties with those you’re related too?”

Dwyer took a step back, believing it was the most polite gesture at the moment. Straining to keep a proper posture, his gaze rested upon the cup, trailing it as Camilla took a sip of tea. He had hoped her pause was a good sign; the tea had been a new recipe he came up with from his time in both neighboring countries. With fatigue quickly catching up to him, his posture began to sink and eyelids began to droop. Seemingly unknowing this, he made the rare effort into stifling a yawn. The Butler only fixed himself when the Queen turned to his direction.

“Not too much, I guess. But I would never pretend I don't have family.”

Nights weren't often troubling for Dwyer. Even if he woke up in the middle of the night, he was quick to fall back to sleep. However, the thing that had woken him was a whimper-- something that was never there in previous nights. Feeling both shaken and reluctant, the young child began to investigate the sound. Wrapping himself up in a blanket, he snuck through the musky mansion. It took a bit to find the source, but when he did, he let out a bit of a whimper himself.

What was he to do? Wake Takumi? It seemed to be the only option. Hesitantly, he went up and shook the Prince. Dwyer flinched at the sight of the other starting awake. Placing a hand on his chest, the child didn't say anything until Takumi noticed him.

“Y-You were crying...”
