First Meetings | Kairi & Snow
Riding a chocobo without a saddle or reins would be tricky, but the birds here were extremely well trained; as they had to be to safely be around students. He was sure it would be fine, especially since he would be around to help her.
"Alright." Snow stated. "Follow me." He started to walk towards one of the smaller chocobos. They were all about the same size, but they still had differences between them. As they reached the chocobo it looked at them curiously. Snow walked up and pet it’s beak reassuringly. He motioned for Kairi to do the same. The chocobo let out a small coo.
"Come to this side." She followed him to the chocobo’s flank, where she started to pet it’s back. Without warning, he hefted her up onto the chocobo, who stood still, expecting a rider. Snow had the ability to lift her safely and smoothly onto the bird, as he was both strong and tall. In fact, as he looked at the chocobo, he noticed that he was only a foot or so shorter than it, although chocobos were known for their height.
"Okay, let’s walk a bit. Hold my hand so you can steady yourself, and wrap your arm around the chocobo’s neck gently. We’ll go slow because you don’t have a saddle, and it’s your first time." Snow said, holding up his hand for her to grasp. They would go for a little bit, and then he would let go so she could get the feel for riding it.
There a time that she read about chocobos. She was five.
It was a simple picture book on a chocobo named 'cobo' lost from it's pack and goes on a small adventure, meeting many places to soon returns to it's family. Other than that, she knew nothing.
It was clear enough that she was nervous to approach something she couldn't predict was could happen, yet anyway she followed Snow's instructions; standing to the side of one with a bright yellow coat. Snow began to pat the creature gently, he looks to Kairi to do the same- which she accepted the invitation, raising her own small palm and petting against it's feather layered body. A smile emerged, this experience was nothing she ever thought of.
Maybe this was a good idea after all...
All said too soon as unexpectedly his string arms threw her onto the chocobo. The redhead suppressed to squeal as her body fell tense and eyes went wide staring down to the bird's head, quickly switching to Snow for assistance.
She followed his advice with each nod, grabbing his hand tightly and the other slowly but in a way to not exactly ruffle it feathers. The girl was utterly speechless, only because she was afraid to scare the poor thing and send her dealing with it. It'll go fine, I know it'll be... she assured herself mentally.
