Alec looked up when he saw Ricky coming over to his desk. He had been dreading this conversation for over a month now. He had secretly borrowed quite a lot from his coworker with a promise to pay back in three week. It his been pass that deadline. He wanted to pay back, but didn't have the full amount plus interest. He worked at avoid talking to him for the whole month.
"Hey, how is your day going?" Ricky said as he saw Alec's door open.
"I know why you are here." Alec paused, cutting right to the uncomfortable part. "I promised to pay back in three weeks, and I have missed that deadline." He added.
Ricky had come over for that very reason, but Alec beat him to the punchline without him mentioning it first. "Yeah, so do you have it?" He asked him.
"Not all of it, maybe a fourth of it, honestly." Alec admitted. "It's taking more time for me to gather all of it than I anticipated."
"Hmmm." Ricky thought to himself. "Maybe there is a possible solution. If you are interested." He offered as there was a way to at least get part of him money back and get a gift for his older brother's birthday.
"Sure, what are you proposing?" Alec asked, hoping for a better option. The amount he owed would take a while to collect.
"You give me what you currently have and don't worry about paying the rest of it. Instead, you will help me get a gift for my big brother for his birthday. Deal?" Ricky offered with a smirk on his face.
Alec thought it was a sweet deal. He would be easily free of the debt that way. "Sure." He unlocked his desk drawer to pull out an envelope. He then gave Ricky all the money that was in the envelope. He watched as Ricky pocketed it. "Now how do I help you get a gift for your brother?" He asked.
"Simple, just come over to my office shortly and help me pick out some hot kicks for my brother to wear." Ricky said as he left Alec's office. He had a hard time trying to figure out what sneakers to get him.s
Alec was relieved his debt would soon be fully repayed. He answered a few more emails and walked over to Ricky's office. He heard Ricky tell him to close the door. After he did, he saw Ricky turn the computer so that he could see what was on it.
"Which one of the kicks you think would make a great gift?" Ricky asked as he scroll through the options on the screen.
Alec saw the Puma X Ferrarie sneakers. They look really hot. He had wanted a pair, but they were so expensive. "The Puma X Ferrarie kicks will be a perfect gift." He said, now feeling his debt was repaid.
Ricky took out his phone and looked up the item in the app. He then set the settings. He pointed his phone camera at Alec and hit the flash option. Alec vanished. He walked around his desk to see a brand new pair of Puma X Ferrarie kcks on the chair. "Thanks buddy, I hope my brother enjoys wearing you. Your debt is over now with me." He smiled as he grabbed the sneakers and placed them in a shoe box he had prepred for today.
"NOOOOOO!" Alec screamed as he realized that he was no longer human. Seeing how Ricky picked him up, he saw that he was turned into the very pair of sneakers he just picked out as a gift for his brother. "I don't want to be your brother's shoes! Can you hear me?!" He mentally screamed as panic took over his mind. He would rather take time to pay his debt off then to be some other guy's pair of sneakers completely unaware. "You can't do this, I have rights. This isn't fair!" He continued. He saw that Ricky didn't hear a single thing since he had no means to vocalize his complaint. He was placed in darkness of the shoe box as the lid was put on. He now saw his fate sealed whether he wanted it or not.
Alec felt like he was in the box for ages. He finally saw some daylight when the lid was removed. He could hear voices all around him, including Ricky's.
"Wow, bro!" Frost said as he opened the box after removing the wrappings. It as a pair of Puma X Ferrarie kicks. "I have been wanting a pair. Thanks. How did you know?" He asked as he pulled them out of the box.
"A coworker helped me pick them out. I hope you like them." Ricky said smiling, thinking about Alec and what his experience must be like right now.
"Hey, I am a human being not sneakers! Can anyone hear me?! Please help me!" Alec mentally screamed as Ricky's brother Frost held him in his hand.
"I am going to try these on right now." Frost said as placed them on the floor. He took off his slides and grabbed his new pair of kicks.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't wear me, I beg of you, please don't. I am a human being, not shoes!" Alec pleaded to no avail. No one heard a single plea for help.
Frost put on his new kicks and stood up. "These feel amazing. Thanks, little bro." He took a few steps in them. The insoles felt like soft pillows under his feet. He loved the way each step was supported. "I am definitely going to wear these a lot." He added. He saw Ricky smirk a little. "What is that for?" He asked.
"Oh, nothing at all. I made sure these are super durable. In case you do wear them a lot. It would take a long time for them to wear out." He added, still having a smirk on his face. The fact that his brother was completely unaware that is sneakers are a former person amused him. "Just enjoy them and put them to the test."
"Since you made sure they are that durable, I will wear them for at least two weeks straight then." Frost laughed as he sat down, wiggling his toes in his new kicks.
Alec screamed in pain as each step brought on torture renewed over and over. It didn't help much that Frost's socks had a small odor. That odor was pressing down on his face. He had no escape from it. He was secured to his new owner's feet, and there was nothing he could do about it. He swore he thought his owner say that he would be worn for two weeks straight. He hope he miss heard that. It would be a nigtmare.
Two weeks later, Ricky was chilling with his brother over at his place. "How are the sneakers?" He asked, being curious of his former coworker's fate. He saw his brother was still wearing him.
"The best pair of sneakers I have ever owned. I literally wore them every day. They really are as durable as you say." Frost said as both of them enjoyed the game and beer.
Ricky was pleased that his brother loved his gift. As for Alec, at least he no longer owed a debt to him. He was debt free. That idea made him laugh a little.
