“What? No peppers and onions for dinner?” there’s sarcasm made slick within her tone, but part of her wonders what has the guy in a bad mood. Either way; she flips a package of cigarettes in Spike’s direction, she was out, it’s a small gesture, made, when they know their all staring down an AWFUL VICE that they’re not ready to break up with just yet. They’re all wading deep in it, bending to peek within the fridge but knowing there’s nothing but the taste of bitter disappointment stored within. Shit.

Dog food ( never again ) and a sad looking stick of butter alongside sour cream.

Nothing really palatable, and from the look Ein’s giving her from the arm of the couch ( keen, aware, disgusted ), she knows better. “We should go pick up an easy bounty to score enough for something decent for dinner.” how they’re going to do this on an EMPTY STOMACH is nothing new - hunger’s just an old friend, and honestly, while she’s had a shitty time at the casino, at least she’s proper loaded - the one perk of losing your shirt is the alcohol they ply you with along the way. Half drunk’s not so bad, the only upside to starvation. “Besides, you’re not doing anything anyways.”

⊹ ➤ LUNGS EXHALE A HEAVY SIGH AS A BOUNTY IS SUGGESTED. he knew she was right, but he was never going to admit that out loud. form sinks a little deeper into the couch out of stubbornness. a hand briefly waving as head cranes back to rest upon the back line of the stiff and god awful yellow piece of furniture. even after all the years of it being upon the bebop, it still never felt broken into. stomach quietly growls, the feeling familiar and no longer one that bothered him. a feeling that had continuously followed him in his steps of life. with this life, you learn to work with an empty stomach. that fuel being the only thing you have left when in dire need. he learned that from a young age. you did what you can to survive.

It seems he believed the faux warning. Good. Let him be scared for causing such unnecessary ruckus; the mischievous nine-tailed fox isn’t about to reveal the truth. He tends to be like this at times and isn’t this type of attitude a part of gumiho’s repertoire? Books tend to call them a nuisance for being too sly and too troublesome for their own good. Sometimes, sometimes, he likes to honor these authors by acting exactly like it.

Yeo acts thoughtful toward the silencer comment, but it’s more than obvious, due to sigh escaping lips and a face that reflects annoyance, that he took note of the sarcasm. He just wished he didn’t have a gun, period. Then again, these are factors he can’t really control no matter what he does. Just because he’s chosen a sword as his weapon of choice doesn’t mean others will follow the same line.

“No, I—what’s that smell?”

Sensitive nose grasps onto hints of nicotine and flame; ashes and the revolting scent of cigarette. He looks about and finds the other smoking. Of course.

“Ah, your scent is already foul enough and you’re making it even more awful with that thing?”

He smacks his lips in disapproval.

“Have you ever considered quitting? Or showering, at least?”

⊹ ➤ EYES RAISE TOWARDS THE STAR SCATTERED SKY IN THOUGHT, BROW RAISING IN TANDEM. palms raising to rest at the base of his head with another exhale of smoke. a half grin flashing as it tugs at the corner of his mouth with an amused gruff sound. a mix between an exhale of a laugh and a scoff.

❛ once or twice. never could shake it. ❜ brows then furrow, mulling over the other’s words. it couldn’t be that bad could it ?? a pause buffers. head then tilts towards one of his arm pits in a subtle manner. briefly sniffing before pulling away with another smoky sigh and a shrug. maybe he could use a shower after this. ❛ guess old habits die hard. ❜ he comments through tight lips and the grip of the cigarette. smoke continues to twirl and dance in the air. he takes a moment to soak in the night air, gaze quietly connecting stars with invisible lines. another drag is taken, lungs slowly exhaling smoke before reddish brown irises return to the other. ❛ i’m starving ... let’s get outta here before anymore trouble follows. ❜ spike suggests, head nodding to the road ahead. ❛ maybe if you ate something it’d lighten your mood. ❜
