Abe Burmeister: How I Built A Fashion Brand with No Experience
Inspiration.
Will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed. (98Âľ% guaranteed.)
2nd attempt
If you want to be free you've got go it alone And if you want to go home you've got to build your own Everybody will tell you what's right to do Nobody can tell you what's good for you My heart will listen my ears will hear The one you ignored is no more here So go your way and smash your walls Your God is looking and guides your force I'm not your friend - I'm not your foe I'm just your future ghost
Straight up
My birthday lyrics (for the day and the rest of the time Earth will take to go around the sun once more)
Close your eyes and clone yourself Build your heart an army To defend your innocence While you do everything wrong Don’t be scared to walk alone Don’t be scared to like it There’s no time that you must be home So sleep where darkness falls Alive in the age of worry Smile in the age of worry Go wild in the age of worry And say worry, why should I care? No your fight is not within Yours is with your timing Dream your dreams but don’t pretend Make friends with what you are Give your heart then change your mind You’re allowed to do it Cause God knows it’s been done to you And somehow you got through it Alive in the age of worry Rage in the age of worry Sing out in the age of worry And say worry, why should I care? Rage in the age of worry Act your age in the age of worry And say worry, get out of here!

I listened to the record last Wednesday on my flight to Los Angeles. Gave it one more go round before it went out into the world… one last little listen as being just mine. It’s brought me so much joy and company and peace, and I hope it will do the same for you.
JM
Fine, you know my love for John's music, but on his 5th album this dude dropped the bomb. You say over-produce, he says take my loosest yet record, from the "Queen of California" which reminds me of Allman Brothers, to the title track (Born and Raised), with harmonies from David Crosby and Graham Nash.
If you are a younger non-American friend of mine, you've probably never heard of any of the names above, so I'm not going to spend any more QWERTY letters to convince you why this record is the dog's. If you are an American friend of mine you've already formed an opinion about John and it's up to you to decide if your stereotypes are stronger than your ears. If you're a similar age to me and have a faint interest in MUSIC, then have a listen and don't worry. Your brain is used to autotune, but give it a few hours and memories from a young age will start flooding again.

Pre-order Born and Raised on iTunes and preview clips of the the album now… Kind of cool that the clips start at the beginning of each song. I never really know where I’m being dropped in when I listen to previews… “Fool to Love You” is an iTunes exclusive. Hope you like what you hear.
The moment an album that was intended to assist you with packing a bag and travelling West in search of tales from On The Road, succeeds on doing exactly that, it means two things. First, the sound has something you didn't know is missing from your musical rainbow and now your ears are in peace. Second, your musical idol deserves to be in that spot and he shows you the meaning of your own path.
Iconic.
Damn right. Dad worn them, I worn them, my kids will wear them. In green and gold.
Autobiographical 6-liner
And when the time comes to die, what would you say to yourself
Would it be right to blame the world, would it be wrong to ask for help
And when your loved ones depart for ever and you decide to live anew
Would world be saying "well done for changing" or would you be the one they knew
I tell you friend, it doesn't matter what does the world might think of you
It is the life you've chosen lately that shows the path you know is true
Here’s a clip of the first single off Born and Raised, called “Shadow Days.” I’m excited to share the first bit of sound from the album… Been looking forward to a post like this since October 14, 2010, the first day I started writing this group of songs. Enjoy.
Nothing more to add on the thousands of comments from all JM fans. Musical life of mine starts getting some colour again. And with a bit of luck, a lot of effort and masses of coutry sounds, my daily life will be back to normal again. It was a long wait, but it was worth it.

Hou$e of Lie$, by Showtime premiered on January 8, 2012 and is based on the book, House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time.Â
The fact that this book was written by a former consultant at Booz Allenn Hammilton (probably the most cynical and most effective management consultancy I've ever worked with) and the fact that Don Cheadle starts and executively produces (probably the slickest choice for this role) and finally the fact that it deals with a funny/serious subject a few have put on the silver screen (Up In The Airr), means that I will give it a shot this winter. Pilot episode looks promising and Showtime knows that fast dialogues and sex is always a good televisionary recipe (see Californication).
I am aware that re-blogging is the purest form of blogging, but I am anot going to claim credit for finding this video.
For those not familiar with "The Sartorialist", it is a fashion blog by Scott Schuman taking place mainly in in New York. In 2009 Penguin published an anthology of his images that has sold well over 100,000 copies to date and been translated into languages from English to Korean.
In his own words: "I thought I could shoot people on the street the way designers looked at people, and get and give inspiration to lots of people in the process. My only strategy when I began The Sartorialist was to try and shoot style in a way that I knew most designers hunted for inspiration".
This is a blog worth checking amidst the million and a half self-proclaimed fashion bloggers.

Frozen Planet, another great nature documentary series co-produced by the BBC, finsihed airing on BBC HD yesterday. Maybe you remember the amazing shots of The Blue Planet and Planet Earth. Sir David Attenborough returned as a narrator to this series as well and his presence is felt. For those that don't know who David Attenborough is, ask a Briton who they think will gather more people to their funeral. David or The Queen.
