Another reference I've spotted in The Island of Doctor Morose: During the Boss Fight with The Elder One, one of the forms that flickers whenever it gets injured is a reference to Dr. Seuss' painting "A Plethora of Cats".
I just wish I could figure out what the giant floating skull version is supposed to be a reference to.
