patrick's gaze remained steady on the small bird laying still upon it's back after it's unfortunate crash into their window .
' movin' it . you know mom doesn't like seeing this stuff . ' although his tone was convincing , a deceptive smile crept across pale features . ' why ? you wanna move it instead ? ' patrick knew the answer , he'd only asked out of pure mockery .
Avery leaned against the railing of their back porch, he quiet moment. Like he was calculating the situation. His gaze stayed on the lifeless bird on its back, before his sea foam eyes shifted up to his older brother. Avery's attitude towards matter was rather indifferent. ❛ okay. ❜ was all that escaped his lips.
❛ is she wanting it in a certain place or just out of the yard? ❜ He asked calmly as he pushed himself off the railing. Before he had to go get an old shoe box and gloves to pick the bird up.
straightening his posture , patrick's eyes leer in on avery ; analyzing each movement made to collect a box — folding his lanky arms across his chest . ' what ? you gonna bury it like our old hamster pellets ? '
pellets , the poor hamster the boys shared for about a month . tops .
' just pick it up . it ain't gonna bite ! '
He simply stopped in his tracks for a moment upon hearing what his brother said, his hand on the handle of the back door. ❛ Don't most dead things that small get buried? ❜ He asked.
Avery knew how nature and junk like that worked but, when it came to small animals that could be considered close enough to pets, he thought got buried. A sigh quietly escaped his lips as Patrick told him to just pick up the bird plainly.
❛ Fine, but if I get sick. I'm telling mom, it's your fault. ❜ He said walking down the steps and looking down at the lifeless bird for a moment before carefully picking it up to get it off their lawn. He wanted to get this over with already.
' buried , flushed , burned ... the fuck does it matter ? ' their back yard had become a junk drawer of various woodland creatures over the years . the hockstetter's never seemed to fully understand why , although it was likely that avery was close enough to the truth .
that in part was because patrick didn't care , there was a thrill that came with watching avery click pieces of some morbid puzzle together . patrick had been suave enough to talk himself out of most trouble , when he wanted to be , patrick was deceptively charming .
' if you get sick i'll tell mom you love her , now get on with it . '
“Risky?” She questioned, Alex sighed rubbing her neck. “Uhm, what kinda risky? Something fun?” Alex hoped it wasn’t something to to bad, but she was willing to hear him out.
“And I thought you would be hanging out with the others—or something.” Alex said as she looked down to fidget with her bandages.
' yeah , none of this baby shit . ' a lanky arm points to the wall alex had been moments away from tagging . a sense of been there , done that washed across his visage . ' yeah ... ' patrick echoes under his breath . long fingers run across his jaw — all but salivating at the thought of getting victor's sister into more trouble than she already could be .
' principal's got a nice new car , i hear . ' his voice trails off , there was no real explanation needed . ' dunno , if you've got the balls . '

Alex was in an alley-way, shaking up her spray can ready to do her thing that she usually did after school. Victor would come and find her in the place she always was, but I guess change of plans.
Suddenly, she felt two hands on her shoulders practically shaking her and she let out a yelp turning around, Patrick Hockstetter. “Oh,” Alex said almost timidly, “Pat, what are you doing over here?”

patrick proceeds to feign insult , leaning further into the table on bony elbows . ' you shouldn't swear at paying customers either , would hate to see a pretty thing get fired over her temper . '
Carla's eyes rolled and a scoff escaped her lips, this was only a part time job but dealing with her least favourite regulars made it feel like a full time job.
"You can go run crying to my manager if you want, doubt he'd care."
The owner of Derry's little diner wasn't the most motivated at his job, he'd just inherited it from his father and kept it running because it made good money.
"Can you, like, order something? Y'know, because this is a restaurant.."
patrick tuts in response , the sly grin plastered across his face only widening in an almost uncanny manner .
‘ yeah ? sure sure , i’ll order . ‘ propping up his menu , hockstetter clears his throat . ‘ i’ll get the meat lovers dish — add a plate of fries for my pals here , doll . ‘ before tossing the menu to the side , he takes a moment to gauge carla’s expression . everyone in their immediate area knew he wasn’t going to actually pay .
but it certainly wasn’t going to stop him from being a royal pain in the ass .

wendy slumped back as Henry pushed her, picking up her book from the floor. she frowned a little, not liking his tone. despite her size, she did not hesitate to defend herself.
