a/n — after watching soobin interact with baby yoojun, i KNEW i wanted more of dad!soobin… even though this drabble is just the birthing process teehee. pls do let me know if you guys want another part where baby is a bit older (toddler stage). meanwhile, i hope you enjoyed my first story !!!!
soobin sits on the end of a large, glass table where all his employees are sat. at the front of the room is the ceo of another company, presenting an offering and trying his best to persuade soobin into agreeing with it.
some collaboration equals stronger profit bullshit.
“now let’s go over the stock price…” the ceo presents enthusiastically, his presentation switching onto the next slide. the data intrigues soobin, but he doesn’t let it show yet.
he waits for a crack in the mirror, an even-slightly-off detail that may throw him off.
instead the door cracks open, relieving the room of its previous tension and stern focus. all heads turn towards the door, soobin’s included.
his face crumbles with annoyance until he finally processes who the intruder is.
his personal assistant.
just hours before the meeting started, soobin had given his assistant one instruction:
“this is an important meeting, greyson. i can’t have any interruptions, so please inform the building that absolutely nobody is allowed in that room.” soobin ordered from the backseat of the mercedes benz. his fingers worked on his tie with flawless grace, silently wishing his wife were here to do it for him. being in a different country while your wife is pregnant with your first child is never easy, even for a stone cold ceo like soobin.
he paused when the thought appeared in his mind.
“unless my wife is in labor,” soobin continues, “only come into that room if my wife is in labor, understand?”
greyson gave him a firm nod as his eyes remained trained on the road in front of him.
and now here he is—in the meeting room with a concerned expression on his face.
“sir, it’s time.”
that’s all it takes for soobin to shoot up. the ceo tries to argue, but soobin is already out the room and storming out of the building.
the silence during the jet ride home is deafening, save for the sound of soobin’s foot tapping against the floor repeatedly. there are a million thoughts running through his mind, but all of them trace back to you.
he begins to regret ever leaving you in korea. this stupid meeting totally could’ve waited. you should never have to wait for him.
greyson seems to catch onto his nervousness and offers a warm smile.
“don’t worry, boss. mrs choi is a strong woman and i’m sure she’s doing just fine.”
soobin nods along with his words, blinking away the sting he felt in his eyes.
the thought alone of you, the love of his life, giving birth to the beautiful life you both created was just too much for soobin.
he only allows himself to cry just as greyson reaches out to rub his shoulders. his hand covers his face as he quietly sobs into his palm.
just a bit longer, my loves. i’m coming.
the clock ticked 11:07 PM when your doctors began circling around your hospital bed, fully masked and gloved with their tools on standby.
“alright mama,” one calls, “it’s time to push this baby out.”
you breathe through your lips, every one of your senses hyperactivating as you tip your head back. your legs slowly spread as another doctor stations herself just in front of you, ready to help deliver your baby.
“i-is my husband here yet?” you ask nervously, seriously needing his hand to squeeze.
at that moment, soobin rushes into the room. his office clothes are messy and his hair net is only half on, but the sight of him brings you immediate comfort. you smile when he takes a seat next to you, gently taking your hand in his.
“m’so sorry for being late. but i’m here now, and we’re doing this together.” he murmurs into your knuckles, pressing tender kisses to each one of them. your eyes water, both from the pain you’re experiencing and the immense amount of love you feel for him in that very moment.
