Can I just say how proud I am of Ian and Anthony, for taking time off the main channel and saying fuck you to the algorithm? I'm so happy they are actually sticking to their promise of quality over quantity and not working themselves into the ground. I know many people will be sad, but don't forget that over-working has always been the number one detriment to Ian and Anthony's mental health and friendship. I sometimes feel uncomfortable with the attitudes about anthony. Yes he's an entertainer, but he's also a human being. He can take holidays, he can have a life outside of work, and if his work is hurting him, he can leave. It sometimes seems like people want an apology or feel he needs to be punished for leaving but it's totally normal to leave a work environment that is toxic to you. We only get the fun parts of smosh, but they actually have to work there and had to work under defy.

Ian and anthony are different people with different needs. Ian needed to stay at smosh. He didn't believe in his ability to succeed without it and being forced into leading it on his own made him confront that. Anthony needed to leave. He'd spent his childhood and much of his adult life caring for others and putting their needs above his and finding himself in positions of authority that he didn't want. He needed to do something for himself that maybe wouldn't be liked by others as an act of self-care. Now that both of them have better relationships with themselves, they can come back and work together, but they need to maintain their own mental health to do that and that will look different for each of them

This is very well said, I agree with everything.

They also had different upbringing and different characters, it was their choices to make and they made the ones they felt most comfortable or helpful for them in that moment.

They grew and now they are back together. At times we need to recognise how much they have grown and be cool with it. They are going to be human and we can't fault them for it.
