I have worked at a troubling amount of childcare places that have said “We haven’t had to call CPS ever/in many years” and then I work there and immediately start seeing red flags in multiple children. And I have made numerous CPS calls that have resulted in action taken for the children’s safety. These people are missing the signs of obvious trauma and they act like I’m some special force or haven that children just easily confess to. Like no girl…You just have to pay attention.

It’s very clear to me that many adults (in childcare but also in general) have not processed and understood their own trauma and their brains don’t allow them to see it in others as well. Where you lack empathy for yourself you lack it for others. Children talking about violence, private parts (younger than normal), arguments at home, drawing scary pictures, etc. are all things I have witnessed in combination with behavioral issues/abnormalities around other coworkers and I have never seen any of them take action about this. We cannot keep letting down future generations.
