Acknowledging that trans men have needs and need protections that cis men don't isn't failing to recognise them as the men they are. It's actually a great way to meaningfully do so.
"Trans men are men" doesn't mean we should take trans men and put them in the "cis men"-box in our minds and activism. It means expanding our image/definition of what a man is to also include trans male experiences. Including all the extra needs and protections that necessarily involves.

For those who have been following this account for a while, you've likely seen me mentioning the rather long thesis I was working on in grad school. Well, it's finally published and available for everyone to read on the Trans Guy Archive! I'm excited to know what you think! :-)

Is gender something that is innate or put on? Are all men born with an inner manhood (and vice versa), or do men achieve satisfactory manhood through repeated instances of complex social and cultural interactions? Furthermore, can the privilege of having gender be "revoked" once an individual has been confirmed to not fit into what society deems the "correct" version of Man? Using the United States and England during the 18/19th centuries as a backdrop, this thesis seeks to ponder these questions using chronologically topical examples of real people who were assigned-female-at-birth but were able to live successfully as men for extended periods of time.
DES!RE is an experimental film exploring the desire for transmascs, trans men, butch, stud, 'Agressives', masculine of center (MOC) people assigned female at birth. Trans men, femme women and butch and MOC people speak about the complexity of their desire.

if you see a trans man thatās too deep into tumblr discourse cycles, you have to regularly pull him out and remind him that heās loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to tell him that his masculinity isnāt inherently evil or dangerous or antifeminist and that he shouldnāt feel guilty for being himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to let him know he has people who love him for his manhood, and not in spite of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to be there for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to be there for trans men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
