Dude is my favorite character cuz he’s such a shy little guy with such a big heart and everyone thinks he’s a monster but he actually just wants to be loved and accepted and once he finds that love and acceptance he’s willing to do anything. (Run on sentence but) yeah I love his character he’s so sweet once he finds his home. The smallest things make him happy. He’s so grateful just for a sliver of kindness but it also takes him aback and everyone else is just like whaaaaa?? You mean you’ve never experienced genuine kindness and he’s just sobbing happy tears over the bare minimum being met. Truly a softie and yet so brave.

sometimes disability accommodations arent what you think. sometimes its letting the weird people, well, be weird. letting them carry stuffed animals around, wear things you dont normally see, be loud/quiet, speak in odd manners, spell things wrong, all of it without backlash or harrassment.

and thats okay. its not just the big, important things that a lot of us NEED to function, like interpreters or ramps. sometimes the small things can make a difference too, no matter how “strange” or “distracting” they are.

if its not harming you or someone else its not a problem. its making someones life easier or less miserable.

when disabled/chronically ill people tell you they can’t do something, then that is not your cue to tell them that they can actually or that they’ll always find an excuse if they’re looking for one.

when a disabled/chronically ill person says they can’t do something, sometimes that doesn’t mean it’s outside the realm of possibility, sometimes it means if they (attempted to) do that, they will seriously hurt themselves.

when a disabled/chronically ill person says they can’t do something, sometimes it’s preventative care, and they refuse to do that thing to prevent a flare up from happening/their symptoms getting worse in the first place.

disabled/chronically ill people are not “looking for excuses”, they are giving you reasons why. something they don’t even have to do! so maybe just accept the reasons they give you.

btw if all you are doing as a physically disabled person is survive, you're worthy of being here as much as everyone else. even if you can't work, make art, or leave your home. even if you don't see anything beyond your bedroom and phone screen. even if you gain or lose weight, or your appearance otherwise changes because of your disability. even if you aren't awake or aware most of the time. you being here is enough to contribute to the world. i love you

The worst thing is that there is so much potential for exploring the horror of psych wards from the angle of medical abuse, ableism, forced treatment/drugging, loss of autonomy, power imbalance, demonization, dehumanization, etc, and YET the horror genre keeps defaulting to "insane asylums and psych wards are scary because there are mentally ill people in there"
