Hi, it's me. I have a vague idea about this so it won't be too detailed but yk whatever. (Cont. Under cut.)
Considering that Tunny himself said that Tuna are more "refined" and "knowledgeable" than the other species of mermaids, I think that their culture mostly revolves around the gaining and retaining of information.
So, the aristocracy and upperclass are usually the ones with large libraries. Tunny would probably have a massive library with an army of scribes writing down new findings/whatever he says.
The upper crust of Tuna society is made of mostly scribes/priests. While the lower classes are your typical hunters/farmers and so on. It's not uncommon for there to be at least one bookshelf within an average Tuna household.
There is, sadly, a class disconnect. The poorer Tuna are occasionally left out of worship, get worse quality scrolls, ink, and paper. While research is seen as a necessity it's often treated as a luxury by the aristocracy. Scrolls owned by richer Tuna are decorated lavishly with gold ink and glorious illustrations.
As for worship I like to think that Tuna gather in a large stadium and listen to oral retellings of ancient legends/hymns/plays centered around the God of the Surface and the mola mola statue (usually done by elders, scribes/priests, or on rarer occasions the king himself.)
While dedicated to the task of learning, Tuna occasionally indulge in hedonistic behaviors and can sometimes be seen lazing about or philosophizing. They can also make other species uncomfortable with their constant questioning about their foreign anatomy and ways of life.
Tuna were the first mermaids to develop proper ink and paper to write with. They spread their inventions across trade roads while on pilgrimages to seek out information. Tuna would trade with other mer if the other mers would agree to be studied in return. It's not uncommon to see a Tuna exploring though it has become rarer since they joined the Castle Colonies.
Also due to their studies, Tuna make for excellent healers. Their natural curiosity has led to advancements in science and medicine alongside things like architecture.
While intelligent and strategic on the battlefield they're often outnumbered and aren't that strong. This is mostly due to a relatively small warrior class. The reason they joined the Castle Colonies is because they needed protection (like the others).
Tuna are usually viewed as intelligent, well-spoken, mild mannered, and snooty.
