Somebody asked if I ever finished my character design for Our Lady Underground (see original post for further rambling about said project), and I did, in fact. I’m just not super happy with my execution, but I’ve actually been doing a lot of character design for other projects in the last month, so I think I’ve leveled up and could probably do better now. Not getting experimental with mixed media probably would have been a good call...

My end goal is to make prayer candles featuring her. There are a lot of fandom projects that I’d like to do and just don’t have a lot of time for, unfortunately... 

Edit: I looked up the description of her from The Magician King, which apparently I was too lazy to do before, and now I have a MUCH better thing for her to do with her hands than pray to some other god or hold a baby. I guess I just went off the memory of her face being half in shadow.

Confession #31

i really, desperately need lev grossman to write the entire “fillory and further” books

Yo, here’s a thought: how many of us in the fandom are writers? How many were obsessed with the Narnia books as kids? How many of us can easily write stories in a voice that reeks of an English nursery, or whatever it was that Lev wrote along those lines?

We can group write this shit. The plots have been outlined. Hell, covers have been designed. Let’s make a project of this.

I seriously go home from work and write for 3 or 4 hours every day. We can do this.

Step one, in the magicians quinten constantly references fillery cannon. So we need to create a timeline of foolery events so work off of. We don’t want then entering a big when the in cannon don’t realize the bog exists for another 8 years.

Okay, but pre step # 1 there’s Step # Decide Which Canon We’re Using. Based on the confession I’m saying books canon, also because it’s not ongoing and subject to change. And because I’m just not interested in actually watching all of the episodes... I’m reeeeal good at fandom, here.

Exciting and Terrifying News!

Since @msjuliawicker can’t make this week’s episode of Physical Kids Weekly, @fillory-clinton has asked me to sub in as a host. We’re going to be interviewing Henry Alonso Meyers about episode 112:  Thirty-Nine Graves. I’m particularly excited to be involved with this episode, as it’s the first time they’ve had a writer on, and this episode happens to have been kind of a turning point for me, but you can probably listen to me rambling about that when the episode is up.

So, tune in next Wednesday to hear my cartoonishly nerdy voice! I’m super fucking nervous, but also really excited and... yeah.... come geek out with us!

So, I have been a terrible fandom member for some time now. I just had a great visit with @fillory-clinton, and I think I’m going to try rewatching the whole series, because I’m much better at tracking TV shows when I can marathon them (waaaaay better at remembering details from books for some reason). I may liveblog them, if anybody wants to join me... will also be listening to the podcast after each corresponding episode, because I don’t believe I’ve ever actually listened to a whole episode of that, as I was very disctracted by anxiety when it started and wasn’t able to pay attention to purely auditory things. “Distracted by anxiety” is kind of the general story of my being a terrible fandom member... miss you guys. :)

Would anybody be interested in taking over @brakebills-confessions ? I have been neglecting my fandom blogs for some time. It could be something multiple people do - it hasn’t been getting many confessions recently, probably because I’ve been failing to post the ones it gets. 

You’d be free to spiff up the layout, figure out some other way of presenting the confessions if you want (much of what is over there was supposed to be temporary, but then I got…………. let’s say “distracted” for the sake of brevity), whatever.
