Scarlet A super villain. Has lived for over a thousand years. Tries to hold desperately onto her youth. Has received word that a young girl, Maja (Ari’s super villain) has the ability to see into the future. She wants to see this girl and get her future told and then cannibalise her because Scarlet stays young by eating girls.

Carmen Set-Up.

10-12 Page Script Breakdown

Set Up

Teenage house party. Carmen is quiet, blends between rooms unnoticed. She’s new to town. Sips coke; a wallflower.

Inciting Incident

She’s invited to play a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven.

Obstacle No.1

Carmen’s bottle is spun. It points towards the perennial school ass.

Reaction

Though uncomfortable, drunken peers pressure her into continuing. She chooses to take part. Enters closet with the boy.

Obstacle No.2

He’s handsy. Smells of alcohol and cigarettes. Face full of acne. Carmen has never kissed a boy before and isn’t interested in having her first kiss with him.

Reaction

Carmen tells him no. He’s forceful. She tells him that he can tell everyone that they had sex tonight if he lets her leave.

Obstacle No.3

He complies though only if there’s photographic “evidence” of their time together.

Reaction

The next Monday. Carmen is at school. Hot girls - the ‘in’ girls - flock around Carmen. They’re supportive. Outraged on her behalf. Pass her a photo on their phones that has circulated throughout the weekend. It’s of Carmen, the revealing photo that she willingly took in the closet.

She feigns upset.

Conclusion

Everyone knows who Carmen is.

PSW: Music Inspired Short

(Rough) Rough Sketch: Carmen

We first meet Carmen at a party. She’s elusive, floats between rooms. A wallflower.

Classically beautiful, she’s never capitalised on her appearance until tonight when she takes part in a game of Seven Minutes in Heaven.

She’s locked away in a closet with a boy. He’s drunk, hands running themselves along her arms, his face in craters. When she doesn’t want to kiss him - her first kiss - she tells him that he can tell everyone else that they had sex.

She exits the closet a new person. The mythic of Carmen is born soon after.

Plotting Illogicality: Dr. No

Plot Illogicality: Bond is two hours late - so should he really have gone back home to change into a new outfit?

Potential Solution: Time should not have been a factor. The easiest solution to this problem would have been to not include any mention of Bond being late or, better yet, to give Bond two hours of time to kill.

Alternatively, Bond’s return home could have had a purpose. His change of outfit could have been important in meeting a new character. His return home could have given him an opportunity to retrieve something to continue on his journey, such as a new gun. If his trek had injured him or ruined his clothing then a change of outfit could have been warranted. If he had been a (literal) bloody mess, returning home would have also been warranted.

Thematic Statement: Carmen

Propose a Flawed Belief they might have that stems from the wound. If I keep myself at a distance from others then I’ll never be hurt and face rejection again.

Propose an Irrational Fear for the protagonist. Allowing people to get close to me means that their leaving is inevitable and simply a ticking clock.

Propose a potential Deeply Held Longing. To connect with someone and to form an irrevocable bond that cannot be severed.

Which of the Three Classic Ways to Create Empathy might be used in creating your protagonist? Sympathy - having been burnt and abandoned by past relationships in her life, Carmen has become quite wary and aloof in creating genuine connections with others. She is secretive and scared.

Which of the Five Additional Ways to Strengthen Empathy might be drawn upon in creating your protagonist? In Touch with Power - Carmen is adored and holds a lot of sway over her peers due to her ‘cool’ and detached allure. She’s wealthy, beautiful and in control.
