They almost failed in 2008-2009. We recovered because we had a liberal president elected after (Obama). Now we have a government which is cutting regulations and taxes big time — that isn’t good. It makes a recession muchhh likelier.

We still have emergency regulations to prevent another Great Depression. Such as regulations against panic selling failing stock and controlling bank funding. Sure, we could see another recession, but we won’t be literally starving in the streets.

I think you might be surprised at how bad the Great Recession was for a lot of people. Furthermore, literally the only reason we didn’t take it up the ass was because the people who argued for government intervention won and we stopped the banks from collapsing. We do not have in place the policies FDR made anymore. It will happen again and we will have to hope that the people in charge aren’t afraid of government intervention in the economy, so we can stop it early like we did in 2008 (still forced lots of people into poverty and, yes, people died because of it). Unfortunately, if it happens just before or just after Trump is re-elected in 2020, we’re not gonna see government intervention. People are gonna stay handsoff because there’s no way in hell a billionaire raises taxes on the wealthy. And thennn we see another Great Depression.

Just saying, those regulations are nowhere near as tight as they used to be. Obama did not undo the damage done by Reagan, Clinton, and Bush.
