“I’m so sorry,” Ishall whispered quietly, carefully reaching out to try and hold Branson in some way, to try and help.

“Branson, please…” he murmured weakly.

The grief flooded over him, and he takes a moment or two to collect himself before speaking. He’d always been good at quickly regaining composer.

“I.... S’all right, Ishall...”

“He works very hard for the Inquisition.” Ella replied as she strolled down the steps and into the main courtyards. The first place she thought to look was the training grounds.

“So. What made you want to join the Inquisition?”

“I reckon I fancy a bit of action.” He smiled at the Inquisitor, falling in step with her. He listened to the quiet chatter about Skyhold. Always observant.

“And it’s a good a good cause, in’nit? Makin the world.... Safer.”

Branson turned at the sound. “Well, Mate,” He grinned. “Can’t say I’m used to hearin’ that!”

Hello all! Sorry I wasn't in at all. I got caught up in a book yesterday, and school stuff. I should be more active today, though I might not be on tomorrow. School winding down. That means a heavy workload! On the #100 challenge though, I started the girl on the train yesterday. I have like. Maybe a chapter or two left. It's not bad... But the characters are all awful people really.

“I’m so sorry,” Ishall whispered quietly, carefully reaching out to try and hold Branson in some way, to try and help.

“Branson, please…” he murmured weakly.

He let the comfort come. He’d always been affectionate. Even with strangers, and right now he needed the comfort.

“Hawke was... Hawke was my best friend....” He managed. Then he felt it. The tears stinging at his eyes. How much time had he wasted? Waiting, and searching.

“I got here... too late...?”

“He certainly enjoys his privacy.” Ellana replied with a smile. She lead the elder brother up the stairs and towards the Commander’s office. Her ears idly twitched with inquiry. Cullen wasn’t there; so Ella pivoted on her heels and moved through the threshold towards the stairs.

“It seems that our dear Cullen is out. Perhaps at Heralds Nest or practicing with the troops.” Motioning once again; she beckoned the other to follow.

“Come. We’ll find him.”

“That’s Cullen. Never where you expect him. Well, at least you know hes doin’ some sorta work. I have faith that we’ll find him!” He smiled, and followed the Inquisitor.

“Figures I pop in to see him, and the gits no where to be found.”

Ishall blinked at the words before he nodded. “The Champion…Branson, I’m sorry. Hawke…Hawke’s dead,” he said quietly. “Did you hear that we went into the Fade? With the Warden, and the Champion?” he asked quietly, feeling his chest tightening.

“Hawke stayed behind, to give us time to escape a Fear Demon. He’s gone,” Ishall whimpered quietly.

He’d tried countless times to open another Rift with the Anchor, to try and find Hawke, but to no avail.

The smile shrank slowly from his face. His eyes widened at the realization.

“Dead....” He whispered. no, that... that couldn’t be right. Hawke... Hawke wouldn’t die so easily.

The breath caught in his throat, His breathing quickened.

“You.... You must be jokin, Mate.” He laughed quietly. That shocked, panicked laugh that came shortly before hysteria.

“A surprise, indeed.” Ellana replied with an amused expression slowly creeping across her features. It could prove to be entertaining enough, and heartfelt; brothers reunited, and she was sure Cullen hadn’t seen him in ages.

“Allow me to escort you to his office. Come. Follow me.”

“Thats me! Full of surprises!” He grinned. “I reckon I can guess where he’s stayin.” Branson grinned, and nodded towards the tower as he followed the Inquisitor. “Cul always wanted to be as far away from any sort of interaction with anyone. What a place.”

“You’ve come to join the Inquisition? Does Cullen know you’re here?”

“I have!” He grinned. “As for Cul havin the slightest inklin’ that I’m here? Not a clue! I reckon it was a nice surprise!”

The Inquisitor frowned slightly, looking at Branson. “I can’t help if you don’t tell me,” he said quietly, smiling ever so slightly at the man.

“Please? I just want to help, Branson,” Ishall said gently.

The words sounded genuine. He wasn’t used to genuine. Not anymore at least. It shocked him at first. H stared at him for a few moments, contemplating if he should divulge the information without first informing Cullen.

“You...” He leaned in closer, and dropped his voice to a whisper.

“I’m lookin’ for the Champion of Kirkwall.”

Cullen smiled as he looked at him “You are right let’s play some chess, then we can get some drinks and something to eat. He has been stuck in his office for too long now. He was thankful to Branson for giving him a distraction. "You can tell me. What you been up to”

“Oh you know. The usual,” Branson beamed. “Clibin’ trees, throwin rocks at your window. Playin with my son. Nothin’ really new. How, bout you, Cul?” He glanced at his brother, smiling at him fondly. He didn’t envy Cullen. The poor man did the work of three men. And never once complained about it. Branson found it rather remarkable, really.

Ishall smiled and nodded. “We welcome all the help we can get,” he said softly. “We always need more warriors to fight for us”.

He frowned at the other comment. “A friend? Maybe I can help you,” he said softly.

He perked a little at the offer a moment, before his shoulders slumped. His gaze fell to his feet, and his arms crossed behind his back.

“I’m pretty sure they don’t wanna be found, Mate. Thats problem one.- Lets just say this friend of mine is.... Well known. And the only reason I got wind of the location of this friend is on the account of one of your companions... Way with words so to speak.”
