mina made her way to the common room assigned to those from trasnavda, six sets of feet echoing the princesses’s footsteps all the way. more guards, heavier security surrounding her. still her father hadn’t been in contact directly with her, only with the school informing them that he wished for mina to be trailed by a heavier guard.
she saw them everywhere; in the corner of the library as she read, beyond the rose bushes in the gardens, always watching her. it was suffocation at her father’s hands, keeping her captive and further away from the castle than she had ever wished to be.
entrapped with him. he was the only one in the common room, fire blazing in the hearth which only worked to suffocate her all the more. with a sniff, mina nodded to her guards to go outside. they searched the room swiftly before moving to stand just beyond the door. she didn’t look at dimitri, merely moved to glance out the window at the snow capped mountains below. “ has he done the same to you? sent more guards? ”
Dimitri knew there would come a time when he wouldn’t be able to run away from guards who watched his every move, though he was loathe to admit it. As king, he wouldn’t be able to escape them, and a part of him accepted that. What he refused to accept, ever since his powers had emerged and he had come to the Academy, was to have guards tailing him while he was here.
Perhaps it was foolhardy to believe his own gifts were sufficient protection, but between them and the tall walls and the guards already here, he wouldn’t be smothered by a bodyguard’s constant presence. He’d made that clear when he’d first arrived here, escaping from those who were supposed to watch over him with ease.
He’d done the same today; perhaps it was petulant to leave his guards in the dust, in light of the situation in Danruba, but he hated the idea that he needed such guards, as if he was some weakling who needed protection. They were probably still scrambling around the castle, trying to figure out where he’d scampered off to, while he sat by the fire, a map of Danruba spread over the table in front of him and a tome about their geography open in his lap. He hated that he was so far from the action during a crisis, but the least he could do was try to find an edge for their defense.
He glanced up as his sister approached, dark eyes flickering back down to the map before him. “Of course, but it’s not my fault they can’t keep up with me.” He shrugged innocently.
a slow smile spread on her lips, awkward she felt, because it was rarely something she did much. “too bad they didn’t share that thought with you.” had they, and she wouldn’t have frozen their feet to the cold stone floor of the academy. “don’t worry, i tend not to make a habit of freezing people in their stance.”
“Hey, anyone who tries to pick on someone else in this school without knowing what they can do, deserves what they get.” He shrugged, he never felt bad about teaching someone a little respect if they didn’t know better. “Probably for the best, teachers might catch onto you if they keep finding a bunch of people frozen to the floor in your wake.”
smiles weren’t generally something the brunette offered out of a genuine place, but to dimitri they were often out of amusement, thanks, or some other actual emotion. a small laugh tumbled from her lips at the sight, and she couldn’t help but shake her head gently. “i doubt it, but thank you.” he understood her need for personal space when it came to her wings, and she was grateful for it.
“No problem,” he waved off her thanks, the prince wasn’t known for being charming to everyone he met, but he could be chivalrous when he wanted to be. Usually at someone else’s expense, though, as the person banging on the locked closet door could now attest. “We should probably find somewhere a little less... noisy, before our friend back there attracts any teachers.”
a playful smile grew on her lips, because she thrived on others with a fearless air, even if it were fake. “sounds better than a stationary target.” came her reply, pulling her bow back and glancing at the target, focusing on the target, before releasing her arrow with a smile and watching as it soared through the air and landed dead center of the airborne target. “though i’m still new to this gift, and i’d hate to make swiss cheese out of anyone.” added she, though she’d yet to ever hit a single person with an arrow.
“Well, if you miss then I guess it’d prove you don’t quite have perfect aim, wouldn’t it?” Dimitri teased. Even he wasn’t quite foolhardy enough to offer himself up as a moving target for her, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to see the limit of her power. When she neatly skewered the large target, he caught it, setting it back down. “Okay, let’s try something a bit harder,” he suggested, picking up a beanbag, he tossed that into the air next.
muscles seemed to expand on their own. hazel hues hardened, there was no doubt what the stranger’s powers were. a deep breath and a blink later she looked over at the other. his broad shoulders and strong jaw gave him away. competition was clear on his tone.
“is that important?” this didn’t mean to come out as harsh, an honest question was more like it. this was a safe place, a place where that shouldn’t be a priority, r i g h t ?
Dimitri’s brow furrowed at her question, surprised by it. “What could be more important?” He wondered. They were here to learn how to use their abilities, and what better way than by pitting themselves against one another?
“I’m telling the truth!” Levi, admittedly, knew better than to goad his students into reactions or get them excited with tall tales. But…this was the Prince. Surely, he could make an exception, just this once, just to see the reaction on the younger man’s face? Leaning against his desk, Levi curved his palms over the worn wood top. “About ten years ago, there was a boy who turned into a gigantic beast with all the strength of one. I’m sure he’d be a great match for you, likely to win, even!” @brave-notreckless
“Bullshit,” Dimitri rolled his eyes at the teacher, wondering if he seriously expected him to believe that. “If there’d been anyone like that, I’m sure I would’ve heard about it.” Even though he hadn’t been at the academy at that time, his father had been grooming him to take the throne. Any truly extraordinary gifted individuals tended to be brought to his father’s attention. “But if he does exist... I’ll have to see about dueling him after my exams.”
the look of irritation that came from the lady was far from something to be missed. someone had reached out and touched her wings, out and folded neatly against her back due to her lack of having let them loose in a while. “pardon me, those are not yours to be touching.” came her sharp reply, normally much more of a warm spirit, she hated when people thought they could just touch her wings, or her anything for that matter.
Dimitri’s eyes narrowed as he heard the familiar reprimand, and no sooner was it out of her mouth than the prince had grabbed the offender by the hair, yanked them forcibly back and shoved them into the nearest broom closet, all while they tried in vain to stammer out an apology, or maybe a protest. He ignored them, slamming the door shut behind them before he returned to the noble’s side. “Maybe that’ll teach them some manners,” he shrugged with a grin.
archery was hardly new to the girl, it was the first and only love of her life. spending time in the practice range was her favorite thing to do. as she drew her bow, she caught movement out of the corner of her eye, “perfect aim ought not to be tested. it would be wise for you to not walk between the target and my arrow.” offered she, playful smile on her lips to show she wasn’t being rude, though shew as serious.
“I think everything ought to be tested,” Dimitri answered, not even breaking stride as he strolled over to the target, picking it up. “Fancy a moving target?” He grinned, easily tossing it into the air as if it weighed no more than a beanbag. Dimitri liked to see everyone’s abilities in action, especially those with combat oriented gifts.
they probably hadn’t meant it, or maybe they had, but the blonde didn’t care much. but when the person in front of her asked her if she was even old enough to attend the school, elora quickly froze their feet to the floor and walked off. on her path, she spotted someone looking at her in almost a disapproving way, or what she assumed was. “they deserved it.” came her simple response.
“I’ll take your word for it,” Dimitri grinned. She had mistaken his surprise at her reaction for disapproval, although in truth he was kind of impressed. “Remind me not to get on your bad side, yeah?” He said with some amusement, getting on anyone’s bad side around here could prove to be fatal, but some more than others.
sweltering, every inch of her body was sweltering. her eyes closed, belly expanded and air filled her stretched lungs. an older maiden had taught her that breathing helped to mollify the brain and body. it gave her time to ( gather ) herself, to understand this new power surging through her.
hazel hues came to focus on the wall in front of her. everything was at normal temperature now, her fingers twitched at her side. someone came to stand to her right side, plump lips stayed c l o s e d.
Dimitri always liked to find out what powers the new arrivals at the academy had; he always wanted to know how they might be able to challenge him. He was strong, sure, but he always wanted to get stronger, to find new ways to fight, to push himself. And here... well, this was the perfect place for that.
He’d heard about the waifish girl before him. She didn’t look like much, but then, you couldn’t judge a person’s powers by how they looked. He cleared his throat as she stared at the wall, but when she didn’t turn, he frowned, speaking anyway. “I hear you’re pretty fast.”

This is Dimitri, the crown prince of Walochnia and basically an overconfident little shit. Below you’ll find details about him, including some plot ideas I have, but feel free to hit me up for other plotting ideas!
Background
The second child to be born in the royal family, Dimitri’s birth was much anticipated; the first male child, he was immediately pronounced as the heir to the throne, ousting his older sister by virtue of his gender alone.
He was spoiled from his earliest days, given anything he could possibly want or need, but that didn’t mean things were always easy for him. The only thing he truly craved was his father’s approval, and that always seemed just beyond his reach.
While his mother was the kindest, most compassionate soul he’s ever known, his father made it clear that he expected nothing but excellence from his heir. His grooming for the throne began early, and when he wasn’t locked in lessons with the finest private tutors the kingdom could provide, he was training with the knights. His father made it clear there was no room for weakness in a king, and Dimitri spent hours trying to hone himself into the perfect heir his father desired.
His efforts were never quite enough, though. There was always room for improvement, and his father made his disappointment known. Dimitri learned to hide his insecurities behind a polished veneer of overconfidence and sarcasm, pushing his emotions down so that no one could see his weakness.
Challenging himself became Dimitri’s attempt to prove himself; the more reckless, the better. He’d never turn down a fight, no matter how much bigger or more experienced someone was, and he quickly became enamored of the thrill of adrenaline.
Even so, people around the prince were generally more careful with him than they led him to believe. No one wanted to be responsible for damaging the heir to the throne, after all.
Until Dimitri got into more trouble than he could handle. He was 21 when he snuck out of the castle for a bit of fun at a commoner’s pub, where he managed to pick a fight with some of the locals who didn’t recognize the prince. They were not gentle with him, but that was when his powers came to life. After taking a bottle to the head that should have left him bleeding and cut on the floor, he hefted an entire wagon at the men coming at him, scattering them to the winds.
Dimitri was sent to the academy after that, where he’s continued to focus his studies on warfare and strategy. He may seem like nothing but a dumb brute, but he’s more intelligent than he seems, and especially when it comes to battle tactics, he can be a force to be reckoned with.
Having been at the academy for three years now, he’s aware that his exams are coming up quickly, and he’s not totally psyched for that. He’s not sure he wants to go back under his father’s wing already, but he knows it’s inevitable.
Personality & Connection Ideas
Dimitri comes across as brash, overconfident and reckless. He always tries to project strength, and makes decisions quickly to avoid coming across as indecisive, but he doesn’t always think things through because of that.
He is an extrovert and tends to have lots of friends, either because of his position as the crown prince, or because his confidence and outgoing nature attracts people. He’s not a big fan of social climbers, but he tolerates them because he’d rather have the appearance of being popular than not.
He’s not really afraid of much, and his cockiness can also make him unappealing to many people, who may pretend to like him, or might not even bother. He needs some rivals who push him, and maybe there could be someone he gives a hard time?
Dimitri is an unabashed ladies’ man; while he’s pretty sure his marriage will eventually be arranged for him, that doesn’t mean he shies away from physical intimacy with pretty girls at all. Emotional intimacy on the other hand, that’s where he struggles. He tends to back out of relationships before they get serious, but he’s all about hooking up.
Enhanced Body/Fitness
Dimitri has enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability & senses. Basically, he’s stronger and faster than any normal person could ever achieve, but he’s not at the ‘super’ level.
He can be injured, but it takes more force than it would normally, and he heals more quickly. He tends not to get sick very frequently, and when he does, it passes more quickly. No one has tried to poison him yet, but it stands to reason that it would take a great deal more to impact him than a normal person. He needs to eat a ton of food to maintain his body though, and is pretty much always hungry.
He still trains, but at a higher level than most people can achieve. He can also train for longer because of his increased stamina and durability.
He tends to underestimate others because of his enhanced abilities, so someone could get around his guard because of his overconfidence.
