Wow. May came and went and I forgot to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Captain America: Civil War.

adhd tony stark except he never knew because everyone, including himself, just shrugs it off as his eccentric, entitled personality.

He’s late to things because he thinks he’s better than everyone. He spends hours and hours in the lab without break because he does whatever he wants. He’s forgetful because he doesn’t care about things ‘beneath’ him. Plus he’s smart, he’s got multiple PHDS. People with adhd couldn’t do that right?

He’s literally using his symptoms as a way to feed into the nonchalant, uppity billionaire persona he wears, and doesn’t even know it.

Until he meets a diagnosed Peter Parker who tells him all about getting diagnosed and his symptoms and the whole process. Not only does it shatter his pretty flat understanding of neurodivergence but it sounds an awful alot like HIM.

So an unsuspecting psychiatrist has their first appointment with THE Tony stark for an adhd diagnosis, and wow this guy isn’t subtle, they’re not sure how no one diagnosed him before.

genuine question. is robert downey jr aware of how adhd-coded he played tony stark as. there are obviously several examples of this in the movies (considering a large part of tony’s characterization supports the idea he has some form of neurodivergency) .

but the example in my mind right now is specifically in im2 when tony is trying to talk with pep and he keeps getting distracted by the moving pendulum thing on her desk. that shit is so funny to me.

i can’t even blame him bc i was having trouble focusing too but i still find it so funny that they made it an active choice in the film that tony is trying to have a conversation and Cannot Focus At All because of something in his peripheral
