“okay seriously, i really don’t know why i’m like this.” he pointed at his now purple skin, completely clueless about the sudden skin color change. he went from green grape to purple grape and amadeus was pretty sure this wasn’t some whack dye job someone did on him. “technically though, i still have my powers. i’m just not...green.”

“not a word, maximoff.” amadeus was well aware of the state of his skin right now and while he’s still trying to deal with it, he really doesn’t want to deal with the teasing. pietro was a nice guy but he can tease the hell out of anyone. he’s fine with it most days, but most days amadeus could run behind wanda and have her tell off her twin. “you know what? i’ll say it first. yes, i look like a ripe eggplant.”

amadeus narrowed his eyes at the person before him. he was aware of what loki always got into—they weren’t the god of mischief for nothing, after all. but while he didn’t close the door on loki being the reason why the sky is red and his skin was purple, he wasn’t sure either if this was their doing. “so,” he began as he stepped closer to the god, “not sure if you’re aware of this considering your love affair with the colour green, but i don’t look good in full purple. some purple accents are fine, just not a full one. i look like the inside of a dragonfruit. so if you could turn me back now please.”

This lingering feeling of emptiness was a new level of pain Billy hadn’t felt before. He was convinced this place was cosmic karma getting back at him for using his magic at no cost. He flew around looking for a familiar face– for Teddy. His hands were snuggled in the pocket of the hoodie, the faint scent of his boyfriend grounding him. He spotted a green figure in the distance and joy filled his chest when he assumed it was his one and only. “Teddy?” He called out in the distance, flying over as fast as he could. As he got closer, he could tell the features weren’t the one he knew and he slowed down his speed, landing softly beside Amaedeus. “Sorry. I thought you were someone else.” His hand rubbed his own elbow nervously, eyes darting to the ground.

his eyes were killing him already after spending a lot of time on the comms device that went no where. amadeus was on the way back to an abandoned building he unofficially declared as his, a little lonely that none of his friends were with him, before someone flew right in front of him and he had been ready to get into combat mode before relaxing when he heard a familiar name. “different guy, sorry. i’m the asian-american version with the name of a german composer,” he attempted to joke before mildly panicking at how the other guy just looked...heartbroken. “uh, it’s okay. you’re...billy, right?”

peggy released a short laugh. is that what they were calling these days now that she’s passed? “well, i know a few impropers. the reaction is accounted for, really. it’s fine. i’m not really supposed to be…” she indicated towards herself. to be having a full body? the exact same one she’s had only when she was starting out s.h.i.e.l.d with howard? “indeed, how. it’s all i’ve been thinking about since i woke up here with my belongings from when i was alive.” she leaned back against one of the more dilapidated walls of ship. “you don’t happen to know, do you? all this madness that’s been going on, where we are?”

huh. no wonder peggy carter was s.h.i.e.l.d. legend. the woman was nice but she meant business when it’s business. the woman didn’t even scold him for reacting the way that he did. “i see. so that’s another unusual thing—not that it’s a bad thing or anything, i just think it’s unusual.” because that meant his original hypothesis didn’t mean shit at all. amadeus hypothesised that the once-dead people who were alive again were revived from their last bodies. apparently not. “i only know we’re in one of the infinity stones. the soul stone, if my guess is correct. which is, you know, potentially problematic.” technically, being trapped in any infinity stone was problematic, but the soul stone was another level altogether.

𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬, a brow quirking upwards as she looks over at the younger man, waiting for him to finish having his ‘moment of clarity’ like he’d said. “do… you have these often? how long’s it usually take?” she asks, her arms folding across her chest. “i’d ask if you got any clarity on why we’re here or how we can get out, but i figure that’s pretty unlikely, so… i don’t see much of a point to it. what’s it really about?”

“not long, just a bunch of numbers slapping me. i can extrapolate numbers from anyone, anything, anywhere—i can calculate how confused you are right now—and it gives me a moment of clarity.” that was probably the simplest explanation he could give about his whole thing besides being the asian hulk. “the why is still blurry and cloudy, but i can tell you we’re in an infinity stone. we’re basically trapped in magic. don’t know if you’ve dealt with that before though—hey, aren’t you the one who had a press conference about wilson fisk?” he remembered who the woman was now. amadeus was monitoring the news when he saw her on tv. “you work with matthew murdock, right?”

okay no lie, i was torn between this and epilogue: young forever by bts lmao. i eventually picked this because this song had the same arrogance and reluctance on leading just like amadeus. sometimes he’s very arrogant over the fact that he’s the leader of the agents of atlas, but it’s actually just a front because he still doesn’t want to lead a team when he’s always second-guessing himself. nevertheless, he keeps his feet firmly planted on the ground until it’s time to kick ass. the melody itself is a personification of amadeus because the song combines modern trap sounds with traditional korean instruments, which is technically amadeus growing up with two cultures: korean and american.

also fun fact: daechwita is actually traditional korean music that’s played during military marches and royal processions. agust d sampled an actual daechwita in his song with the same name.

“well, i’ll be sure to keep a tight lip about this if i ever do come across this… maria hill.” peggy replied with a slight smirk. the young man brought about the same level of determination she had (and still has) for when she’d been starting out at the ssr. “leader, huh? pleased to make your acquaintance, amadeus.” she took the young man’s hand and shook it firmly. she was not quite familiar with what the agents of atlas were. they were probably just another sort of agency similar to where she used to work at. “peggy carter. retired director of s.h.i.e.l.d. extremely retired, that is, if you catch the drift.”

“peggy carter? oh shit, you’re s.h.i.e.l.d. legend.” holy shit, he couldn’t believe he was actually talking to a s.h.i.e.l.d. legend. she was practically the original maria hill. amadeus can’t believe he actually made a fool of himself in front of the lady. “sorry, that was so not proper. but, yeah, you’re supposed to be de—retired. how—?” this was confusing him even more. so did that mean they were in some sort of middle ground? god, she really needed to find stephen strange again and ask what stone dealt with dead people.

“i suppose so. he taught me english in my sleep once when i was still just a child.” illyana mused, not having thought back much on how xavier’s or the powers of any of the x-men could appear to others. she’d been introduced to them so young that she’d hardly given it much thought since. her head nodded as he asked about strange. “he was. he might at least know where we can start. i can’t guarantee that even he would have all answers, though. just don’t tell him that.” her lips quirked in a slight grin – she respected stephen more than most, but he was entertaining to tease from time to time. illyana paused as she thought over the small dilemma. “i don’t know much about technology, but i do know pocket and alternate dimensions like i think this is. i could help.”

well it seemed like the older people shared the same ego...to an extent. but that’s what made them who they are, he guessed. it was a little amusing to think about stephen strange trying to hide the fact that he didn’t have an answer; it reminded amadeus so much of jimmy sometimes. “secret’s safe with me. but hey, at least we have somewhere to jump off from. at least we’re not as clueless then.” any knowledge about their whereabouts was fine, in his opinion—or well, at least when it wouldn’t screw them over. “holy shit, yes. okay so agent hill’s comms equipment is connected to someone, right? like someone’s on the receiving end of the call. but something in this place is screwing over the magnetic fields and radiowaves that i can barely catch a frequency. any idea how we can get past that? i mean you’re transporting everywhere right? how do you do that even in this place?”

there was a confused look on his face. this was probably the second time stephen strange has asked him something unusual and out of the blue. amadeus rarely ever talked with the man before but now it seems as if he was pretty open to interacting with the lot of them. “uh...sure?” amadeus waited for the sorcerer to do his thing. “i reckon it’s just a lot of green. like my skin.”

amadeus couldn’t help but roll his eyes at peter, massaging his right hand as he did so. “i can feel how much you hate saying that. really.” it was dumb on his part, sure, but he had to at least try. they’ve reached what they thought were the edge of the place and with what he could extrapolate from the place, amadeus thought he should try punching at the wall with the right amount of force. nothing cracked except maybe his bones. (an exaggeration on his part but who’s going to stop him?) “alright, parker. let’s see what you got.”

— “ i’ll web up jimmy if we ever get back and he hadn’t been taking care of him well. ” At the mention of Shang-Chi, it reminded her of the rest of the team. “ I hope the others are safe if they didn’t come here. ” She said in a low tone to herself. “ yeah i’m okay, i think? I mean besides waking up in a new place. Are you alright? ” She asked before a small laugh escaped her. “ The whole situation was a nut show in itself. ” Cindy grimaced. Maybe she didn’t want to hear what he was going to say but at the same time she didn’t like being in the dark. “ What is it? What’s your thought? ”

“i would wholeheartedly support you in webbing up jimmy but, y’know, let’s not forget he’s a spy.” besides, jimmy got them before with some life-model decoy of pele, amadeus is pretty sure he could do it again. “hey, i mean they could take care of themselves. they just need a bit of direction but nothing too major. they’re all a little hard-headed but when aren’t we?” the agents of atlas were a band of asian misfits, but somehow they clicked just fine. “if the numbers are right, we’re inside an infinity stone. i’ve only seen similar numbers when we got way too close to an infinity stone before. and if that’s true, then we need to figure out what infinity stone we’re in.”

bucky knew about every agent of some significance in shield, as was expected when hydra had a hold of him. that information ensured greater success in his missions, and that’s all they cared about. success. agent hill’s name rung a bell just like any of them would have. they’d met in passing – such was the case between him and most shield agents, and almost always in bad situations – and the kid’s comment made him smirk. “hill cuts a pretty intimidating figure,” he said, “but i don’t think heads are gonna roll because you couldn’t get a radio working. nobody could. not here, anyway.” wherever here was, it was beyond the known world. 

amadeus was inclined to disagree but sergeant barnes worked with agent hill longer than he has so he probably has a point. “okay, yeah, makes sense. but she still scares the hell out of me though so.” whoever wasn’t scared of maria hill was either pretty brave or pretty dumb, in his opinion. “i’ve been trying to figure out how to amplify radiowaves here because there’s no way they don’t have it in this stone. but this...if we are inside an infinity stone, then even science can’t touch this.” sometimes, amadeus really hated magic. this was beyond what he could work out with.

peggy felt like a ghost, wandering mindlessly around the strange place. she was still getting some sort of odd whiplash from seeing familiar faces, and what she could really use right now was some time alone. she had been wandering the north where the spaceship was. she considered looking further into it, seeing if there was some sort of device that could help them out–much as she was out of her league when it came down to the science of things. that was more of howard’s specialty. she had only just arrived there when she saw a man tinkering over some sort of device. she took a light step back when an audible crack resounded from the contraption. “not sure why you wouldn’t want her to know.” she stated, her lips curled up slightly. “it could be a very useful item that might help the others out of here.”

“i’ll let her know when i can finally get this thing working. she’s scary, y’know? maria hill is not someone i want to get in trouble with.” amadeus liked to think that he was smart when it came to dealing with people aka he was not going to get into trouble with women. no, sir. he could talk circles around jimmy and he wouldn’t give a shit, but he would definitely shut his mouth when he was in front of maria. “oh, i haven’t introduced myself, which is rude. i’m amadeus cho, leader of the agents of atlas. well, as much as i can anyway.” he offered his hand for her to shake, hopefully his hulked out self not too much for the woman in front of him.

funny thing about the phoenix force.

it whispered in her head sometimes - and while it actually seem to use words, sometimes she just seemed to know things … even if some of those things made absolutely no sense.

one of them was whispers of a different world and a different timeline, a might-have-been or perhaps could-still-be? every time she tried to focus on the details, they seemed to slip through her fingers, dreamlike. 

“no… i can’t say i have,” she said, shaking her head. “none of this is familiar at all. at first… i thought it was a different planet, but now i think we’re stuck in a .. bubble? a world that’s self contained. what sort of numbers are you picking up? and– i’m sorry, but have we met before? you seem familiar somehow, but my memories have been a little scrambled lately.”

a little was an understatement. a jaunt to space and back, whipping around the galaxy in phoenix form… there were times when she wondered if this was all still some kind of dream.

yep, okay, this was officially trippy. as much as amadeus has only met jean a couple of time, her completely forgetting who he was was definitely a lot trippier. “uh, yeah. but like your future self, i guess? so the current you—i mean the you i’m talking to now, not the future you which the current you, oh god anyway—you wouldn’t meet me for another decade, give or take? i’m amadeus cho. i used to be the hulk—that’s another person you’re going to meet by the way—but i go by brawn now.” holy shit, talking to people from parallel universes and different timelines is confusing as hell. 

numbers. yes, numbers. something he was confident in. “the numbers i’m reading are similar to the infinity stones—the gems that possess characteristics of existence—which doesn’t really add up. i’m seeing the numbers everywhere in this bubble—like we’re inside a stone. and that doesn’t make any sense at all. this is way beyond my expertise at this point. magic isn’t something i deal with.”

“this is –– a lot of orange. i don’t even like orange that much.” she observed, seemingly making the comments to herself. one hand hovered carefully over the gun to her side, wary of the sudden new surroundings. there was a sense of unease that threatened to creep over her, and one she was quick to push down and compartmentalize, especially as she realized she wasn’t there alone. nodding her head towards the building structures in the distance. “do you know where we are? if there is anything living over there?”

“agreed. orange doesn’t really look good with my skin.” just thinking about orange and green mixing was already giving him a migraine. and maybe he shouldn’t have answered considering she probably didn’t know he was there the whole time and there was a gun on her person. “i have my suspicions but i need to talk to doctor strange to be sure. he understands this hell of a lot better than i do.” amadeus looked at the buildings at where she pointed at and nodded, coming from there himself. “yeah, not exactly living but i’ve seen a few people there. did you want to check it out?”

the fact that amadeus actually found some spare parts for communications equipment in the ruins of this place almost made him cry. not because he was tired—but because he was scared shitless of maria hill. whoever isn’t scared of maria hill was an actual god in his opinion because no way in hell is someone not afraid of the former s.h.i.e.l.d. agent. so he’s been tinkering with the communications equipment for a while now, his mind extrapolating the formula as he worked on it. “hold on,” he told the other as he worked out the last kinks. “oh god, yes!,” he shouted in glee before his smile fell as the radio he just built crackled and died out, before burning up. “...maybe don’t tell agent hill that?”
