100% not trying to start anything here, but: does anyone have a link to something that explains why the tumblr interface change thing was harmful?

i saw several, of course, but they all seemed to assume that user behavior would stay exactly the same despite a major change to the options we had for interacting with things, which is incredibly silly. that can't be the long and short of it... this is the piss on the poor website, but hopefully we are a little smarter than that. there must be someone out there who explained it intelligently.

one of the few things i genuinely white-hot hate about tumblr is how reactionary and change-averse its userbase is. l i t e r a l l y every change provokes a backlash--it makes it so hard to tell when something is actually bad and when it's just 'change scary'. for the life of me i could not discern which of those this was, and it's not like staff did a good job of explaining the new feature or the reasons it was (in their opinion) a good thing. and then it was all reversed before i could learn more about it. cool stuff all around.
