It's unlikely we'll ever see another adaptation, so I'll really miss Trigun and all the characters and will be rewatching all the versions 💔

When I hear the opinion that Doflamingo unconditionally welcomed his lost brother back into the family, trusted him, loved and cared for him (and that Roci insidiously trampled on Doffy’s sweet brothers feelings in return), I remember that terribly awkward and embarrassed scene (not to mention the another fact that Doffy never called him by his name).

Yes in anime this scene was completely reworked (they censored the beautiful shirtless Rocinante nooo 😭) and added some concern to Doffy's voice, but... come on. In the manga, that "concern and sympathy" was literally written all over his face. Mistrust, awkwardness, incomprehension, and a kind of disgust—that's what I sense in that moment from Doffy, who suddenly saw his brother's battered body bandaging yet another dangerous wound.

He probably knows the origin of some of the scars—painful childhood memories of brutal beatings. He might also be wondering about others—what strange and bizarre life his brother lived without him. This moment clearly doesn't demonstrate brotherly warmth or empathy of course. I like and am scared of this tension.

P.s. I've also wanted to redraw this scene for a long time, yes 😼

Когда я слышу мнение, что Доффи безоговорочно принял своего потеряннного брата обратно в семью, доверял ему, любил и заботился (а тот коварно растоптал его светлые чувства в ответ), я вспоминаю эту до жути неловкую сцену. Не считая очевидного факта, что Доффи его по имени-то ни разу не называл.

Да, в аниме момент полностью переделали (зацензурили прекрасного Росинанта без рубашки 😭), и добавили Доффи некоторой заботы в голосе, но.. камон. У него в манге буквально на лице была написаны эти «забота и сочувствие». Недоверие, неловкость, непонимание и своего рода брезгливость - вот что я ощущаю в этот момент от Доффи, который внезапно увидел израненное тело брата, перевязывающего очередную опасную рану. Происхождение некоторых шрамов он, наверняка знает - болезненные детские воспоминания о жестоких побоях. Про некоторые может тоже гадать - какой странной и незнакомой жизнью жил брат без него. Братскую теплоту и сопереживание этот момент явно не демонстрирует. Мне нравится и пугает это напряжение между ними.

P.s. Еще я давно я хотела перерисовать эту сцену, да 😼

What I really miss in the reboot is Vash’s feathered biblical chthonic image and angelic body horror. I want Vash to get his final fluff in the remaining episodes 🥹 Why do they so persistently ignore his feathered nature?
