Kitten.
I want one.
No. Iâm going to tell Baba you stole his face.
[The toddler sniffles before looking around just like Bruce.] If you kidnap me, Batman will get you. [If thatâs what the other man is hoping to do, surely Damianâs favorite hero will help him.]
[Bruce tapped the young boyâs shoulder.] Iâm not going to kidnap you and weâre going to find your real fatherâŠsomehow.
[There seemed to be no traces of anyone frantically looking a child, or anyone that had come with one in the grand hallway of Congress. How did the young arrive here? Bruce was going to make sure he found out.]
Are you playing pretend? [Because why else would somehow have the same face as his father and sound almost exactly the same?] Is this a game? [Because that would be the best way to make sense of the whole thing. He sniffles again.]
[Damian immediately hurries to climb up, placing the plush toy on her lap first before joining the bat.] My favorite is the third one! [He hushes himself, quieting and waiting for her to turn the pages.]
[She chuckled and looked down at him.]Â
I like this one. [She pointed to the drawing. She couldnât quite tell what it is, but she loved the colors.] I think itâs beautiful.Â
That's the garden. [He points at the bits of red, more than happy to explain his drawing.] Ommi's flowers!Â
bredforperfection replied to your post: [Pats her leg, glancing up from the ground to stare at her.]
[Damian immediately wraps both arms loosely around her neck, head resting on her shoulder.] Iâm hungry. Thereâs no more candy.
/Talia tsks at him softly, but holds him close./
Candy is hardly sustenance, my son. What would you like to eat?
[He shifts restlessly for a moment in her arms before finding a rather comfortable position, one hand leaving her neck to rest under his chin. The boy bites at his thumb and frowns around it.] Â Cereal and sugar!
/She blinks once at him, paying no mind to his shuffling, and carries him to the kitchen./ Letâs see what we can find in the pantry, hm? Â
/Talia sets Damian down when she reaches pantry. Opening the door, she steps back and observes. Thereâs a slew of basics, dried fruits, and precisely one box of cereal. The boring sort that adults eat./ Oh. Hm.
[The moment he's back on his feet, Damian is moving to follow Talia about. He peeks around her to stare at the pantry and the lack of snacks visibly makes him wilt. Though the boy says nothing, he's already looking for something that looks like it would taste good. Then a small box of sugar cubes on the pantry shelf catches his eye and he brightens.]Â
Sugar cubes?Â

I donât talk to strangers! [He pats at Bruceâs face and scowls, lips tilting down immediately.]Â
Then maybe you should stop talking to me as I help you find your real parents.
[A small smile of reassurance had been given as the man looks around to see if there were any traces of a stroller or anything of the sort around.]
No. I'm going to tell Baba you stole his face.

Pictures. I drew them. [He opens it, flipping to a quick page that shows scribbles from colorful crayons.] Alfred said I should show them. [The toddler glances at her and shuffles somewhat shyly.] I picked you.
[She grabbed the notebook, holding it up, and patting her lap softly.] Come on, letâs look at them together.Â
[Damian immediately hurries to climb up, placing the plush toy on her lap first before joining the bat.] My favorite is the third one! [He hushes himself, quieting and waiting for her to turn the pages.]
[A hand is taking a bit of Bruceâs cheek between a tiny thumb and an index finger to pinch.] Plastic?
Why are you wearing a mask of my Baba?
Iâm not wearing a mask. [Bruce looked at the child questioningly, wondering just what the little boy was referring to.]
Your fatherâs Bruce Wayne, isnât he?
I don't talk to strangers! [He pats at Bruce's face and scowls, lips tilting down immediately.]Â

Baba? [The toddler pokes him with the end of his plush toy, the pointed end of one wing jabbing at him.]Â
[Bruce looks down at the child, getting down on one knee to have a look at the toddler.] Baba? [The billionaire repeated the childâs words until the the realization of it being âfatherâ in Arabic and Farsi.] Oh no, Iâm not.

Batman and Robin #14
Damian might be just a child but most children can still feel uncomfortable when being stared at while completely vulnerable. The toddler stirs when he feels eyes on him, a whimper echoing in the otherwise quiet laundry room. He was still so very sleepy and the clothes were warm from his body heat. But it was now strangely uncomfortable.
âO-Ommi? B-Baba?â The boy cries out for his parents, eyes still shut close as he squirms and whimpers into his perfect bed turned annoying cocoon of clothes.Â
Talia watched Bruce go, watched him disappear around the corner and felt her heart twinge a little â she wished that he wouldnât just assume she had everything in hand, that maybe heâd relish these little moments like normal parents would. She turned back around when Damian woke up, and stepped down into the room to pick him up from the swath of clothing around him, settling him on a hip.
âShh, Iâm here, habibi. Letâs get you to bed.â
He overhears the two as he walks down the hallway, he knew his instincts were correct and began reading his intricate paperwork once more.
The toddler acts as if he's completely boneless, body slouching onto his mother's as he whimpers again for sleep. It's hard to get comfortable up right and he has the urge to just roll or demand to be put down so he can just curl on the floor. "I'm sleepy," he whines as he rubs his face against Talia's side, eyes watering even when they're squeezed close.Â
The laundry room was cold and it didnât help that the floors were chilly too. The clothes, after being out of the dryer, slowly lost their warmth and Damian subconsciously burrowed further into the pile. Soon enough, only a bit of the boyâs foot could be seen and the dark tuff of his hair among shades of muted and warm colors.Â
Finally, he was comfortable in his own makeshift bed and blanket.
She sighed and rolled her eyes when Bruce gave her a momentâs glance and the sharp answer. âWell, you might have, if you ever looked up.â She didnât wait for a response, pushing away from the door way in the living room, checking Damianâs room one last time, under the bed and in the closet. Bathroom was next, behind the shower curtain, in with the towels. She sighed, biting her lower lip, before glancing down and seeing the faint light of the laundry room. Creeping close, she saw the barest patch of skin exposed between a dark sock and his Batman pajamas.
Bruce waited a few minutes and still had heard no response from Talia before putting down the papers and beginning to search throughout the apartment himself. Stopping in his tracks when he notices the woman near the laundry room.
He stretches his neck to take a look and sees the glimpses of his son as well before dismissing himself, knowing that Talia has the situation covered.

The toddler had gotten rather sleepy around ten minutes ago after having his fill of sweets, milk, and toys. He had wanted to go find his mother first and sleepily request to be held for a while but then Choco had to tug at his shirt and drag him to play with her in the laundry room. Damian had did so for a little while, tossing and rolling the green rubber ball, but a nap was dearly needed.Â
So completely exhausted, the toddler had curled inside the laundry basket on top of freshly washed clothes. He snuggled into a large cotton shirt, breathing quietly.
Mika and Sarim were in their cage, curled up and asleep under their favorite blanket with their stuffed cow toy. The TV was on low, and Bruce was spending a few nights at Taliaâs home, rather than the mansion, and Talia was getting ready for bed. Fingers combing her hair thick over one shoulder, she padded through the hallway, looking for Damian.Â
âHabibi?â Coco came padding into the living room and curled her bed, looking equal parts sleepy and guilty. Fingers coiled in the long night-shirt she was wearing, an old worn cotton t-shirt from her Metropolis days. âBruce, have you seen our son?â
Bruce was busy working on a few reports regarding his company that he hadnât noticed the child run by and hide himself into the laundry room. He instead glanced at her, taking a momentâs break from his paperwork to answer with a kurt ânoâ. He had a board meeting tomorrow regarding this new project and he wanted to make sure that everything was perfect before pitching the plan towards the other members.
He began sifting through his paperwork once more.
The laundry room was cold and it didn't help that the floors were chilly too. Soon enough, only a bit of the boy's foot could be seen and the dark tuff of his hair among shades of muted and warm colors.Â
Finally, he was comfortable in his own makeshift bed and blanket.
[He squeals, arms and legs flailing a bit. The toddler trusted his father not to drop him, even if looking down had him whimpering softly. Still, fun first and instincts for survival second.]
Batman is better! [Damian sniffles as if that is simply the uncontested truth of the universe.] I want to play Batman!
[He turns to stare wetly at his fatherâs face, lips pursed stubbornly.] Baba can be Batman! We can fight lots of stuff and Choco can be my puppy sidekick!
[Â He places his son down. And looks the boy in the eyes, pointing towards each one as he refers to either. ]
How about, you play Batman and I will be Superman? Is that alright?
[Damian just stares at the Batman costume, ignoring the Superman one completely. Then he turns to his father and pecks Bruce on the cheek. The boy points at the Batman one and back to his father.]
You play Batman. I'll be Robin! Superman lives far away anyways. He can't be in Gotham!
