Letās see, the last time I posted life was crazy. Not much has changed :)
The boys are growing so fast. They are enjoying pre-school, and itās fun to hear their stories. We are starting to see some behaviors, but Iām not sure if they are age related or from their birth history. They both do well in school behavior wise if they are in separate classes, but together they fight and antagonize the crap out of each other. Hitting, scratching, just very physical with each other. Just each other, not other kids, so for that Iām grateful.
M is still having epic meltdowns where he throws stuff- heavy stuff, but pulling him out of them is easier. His sensory issues arenāt better, but not worse, so thereās that. He absolutely loves school, staying busy, and loves his little friends. Heās excited to go everyday. He was hospitalized a few weeks ago and then had to stay out of school, and he hated it!
X is going through a ānoā phase, so we are working on giving limited choices so that he can feel like he has some control over things while still getting stuff accomplished without a meltdown. Iāve tried explaining to the hubs that sometimes kids just need to melt. Lots of emotions in those tiny bodies. Heās going to only go to school 2 days instead of 5. He seems really overwhelmed by school, so Iām grateful we are in a position that he doesnāt have to go 5 days.
Baby girl is still with us. Sheās 14 months old now and so very sassy! Sheās caught up totally and has been exited from all services. Sheās a joy and a stinker all in the same little package.
Her case is headed to tpr next month. Bio mom has made some progress ( is not pregnant as far as we know) , and does still visit every week. She has remained clean off of everything- just methadone, and thatās a prescription. Sheās working now, and is couch surfing , but refuses to do any other part of her plan. It boggles my brain. Shes still got warrants out, so that may be part of the problem- fear of the law. She swears she did community service last summer, but says she keeps forgetting to turn in the paperwork. Sheās the same age as my oldest child, so Iām struggling with our relationship. Iām trying to maintain my role as her daughters foster mom, and being supportive in that role, but when we talk I tend to talk to her like I would if she was my child. I get after her to get her stuff done, and get frustrated when she says she will then doesnāt. I want to see her succeed. Between her family, the caseworker, and me, weāve given her all of the resources and support we can. Maybe itās too much? Would she work harder if we werenāt? Her dad says sheās used to always getting her way on her own terms and thinks that she believes she has all the time in the world. In our county they stick to the ASFA law unless there is an absolute reason to extend the time. Bio dad visits occasionally, is still using, and seems to be stuck in the same place he was a year ago.
Other then that, life is pretty much the same. Hubby still hates his job, my older kids are doing great, and Iām ok. Iām waiting on an appointment with a surgeon to have my gallbladder out, Iāve started nutrition classes to put me on the path to gastric bypass, and Iām currently searching (again) for a new therapist. Itās getting to be the time of the year when my depression hits hard, so I really need to find one.
