Fanciful, but sensible thing.
once she’d seen his death laid out for him, and seen that he was real, and found out that she was meant to have a part in it, there had never been a chance she would just stand by and let it happen.

She thought about birds singing.
Blue. My name’s Blue Sargent.
They were no longer Noah Czerny and Blue Sargent. They were now just him and her. Not even that. They were only the time that they held between them.
Blue gave him a watery smile. “That was super nice.” He shrugged, eyes doleful, shoulders curled in on themselves. He was fading. It wasn’t that she could see through him. It was that it was hard to remember what he looked like, even while she was looking at him. When he turned his head, she saw him swallow.
Maybe you’re already something more
Blue had known her entire life that she was a rarity. And it was nice to be useful. But it wasn’t enough. It was not, her soul thought, something more.
She had been shunned and embraced and bullied and cajoled. She was going to hell, she had the straight line to spiritual nirvana. Her mother was a hack, her mother was a witch. Blue dressed like a hobo, Blue dressed like a fashion mogul. She was untouchably hilarious, she was a friendless bitch.
The Gansey who turned to her now was a world away from the lofty boy she’d first met. Without any hesitation, she stretched her arms around his neck. Who was this Blue? She felt bigger than her body. High as the stars. He leaned toward her— her heart spun again— and pressed his cheek against hers. His lips didn’t touch her skin, but she felt his breath, hot and uneven on her face. His fingers splayed on either side of her spine. Her lips were so close to his jaw that she felt his hint of stubble at the end of them. It was mint and memories and the past and future and she felt as if she’d done this before and already longed to do it again.
Oh, help, she thought, Help, help, help.
He pulled away. He said, “And now we never speak of it again.”
I am not a little girl anymore, dazzled by your magic. It is my magic now, too.
SOON, SOON.
“Wait. You thought — it was never gonna be you and me. Is that what you thought?”
Kavinsky’s expression was scorched. “There’s only with me or against me.”
Which was ludicrous. It had always been Ronan against Kavinsky. There was never any possibility of with. “It was never going to be you and me.”
… again Adam considered Ronan’s admiration of him.
‘I want you to know,’ Noah said, pressing the carved bone against his Adam’s apple, hard, as if it would squeeze the words from him, ‘I was… more… when I was alive.’ ‘You’re enough now,’ Blue said. ‘I missed you.’ With a wan smile, Noah reached over and petted Blue’s hair, just like he used to. She could barely feel his fingers.
I made a deal with you, Cabeswater. I’m your hands and your eyes.
