Hi! I'm Brek (she/her), I'm 24, and I mostly write stuff. I do occasionally draw, but I make no promises about the quality of my art lmao
If you're a minor and want to follow my tumblr, you can! I try to keep things sfw here, and anything that slips through the cracks (mostly asks about my writing) will be tagged as nsfw for filtering. My ao3 does have nsfw content (all tagged and rated tho)!
Hereās the stuff I like and have made content for:
FNAF
TSAMS
Dispatch
Amazing Digital Circus
And hereās some of my other interests:
Portal
Spyro
Outer Wilds
Dead by Daylight
Cult of the Lamb
Cats: The Musical (but like the stage recording, not the movie)
Borderlands
Pacific Rim
My ao3 is here!
This is generally how my blog is organized, when I manage to remember to tag things:
#reblog - Anything I've reblogged
#meblog - Any of my own original content. Some stuff has its own tag, but shorter fics and the like will probably end up here.
#brekwrites - stuff I write (tag in progress)
#brekdraws - stuff I draw (tag in progress)
#brekanimates - animatics (tag in progress)
#answeredask - Take a guess. (It's my answered asks.)
#fnanf - Five Nights at Not Freddy's: It's Sun and Moon's Show Now - Big long fnaf dca fanfic I'm writing. My take on the "new handler meets Sun and Moon and maybe they kiss eventually" trope, set after Security Breach and outlined before Ruin came out, so not canon compliant anymore.
#chance4redemption - A Chance for Redemption - Big-ish long-ish Sun and Moon Show fanfic I'm writing. Canon divergent, dragging Eclipse V3/4 kicking and screaming, through his redemption arc.
#fnaf - fnaf stuff (in progress)
#dispatch - dispatch stuff (in progress)
#tadc - amazing digital circus stuff (in progress)
Little doodle comic of Abyssās arrival at the circus. Her extra eyes are a bit too similar to the abstractions for Caineās comfort. And she doesnāt remember any of her past! Most of her code looks fine, but her memories are corrupted. Suspicious.
Bear with me while I figure out how 2 Caine, heās looking a little wonky here lmao
Some screenshots of Kingerās screen and everything I could piece together happening in the code!
Iām not a programmer, but I did my best here! Anything in quotes is directly quoted from my research. Apologies if I got anything wrong!
Before even opening Caineās AI, thereās another AI file beside it thatās been corrupted. Maybe the remnants of the other AI Caine consumed?
Kingerās password is Queenie123 š„ŗ Also the date here is October 30, 1996, which is a bit confusing given later screenshots.
He uses the whoami command to confirm who he is and, i think, that he has administrator privileges
The next thing Kinger does is use the grep command, which āis used to search for specific words, phrases, or patterns inside text files.ā So, he looks for AI location, and the results return Caine, and another AI agent called experimental (possibly the alpha AI?), as well as modules for consciousness research and brain scans.
āAn artificial intelligence (AI) agent refers to a system or program that is capable of autonomously performing tasks on behalf of a user or another system.ā
I think the next line is kinger searching within a secured directory and returning results
drwxr-xr-x means āa directory where the owner has full permissions, while the group and others have read/execute permissions but cannot make edits or delete thingsā
The numbers 3 and 45 indicate the number of hard links to the directory. Typically, one link is the directory itself, one is the parent directory, and the rest are subdirectories. So the first result likely has one subdirectory, while the second has 43.
The term ārootā refers to the owner of the directory, and means the system administrator owns this file and āwheelā is the group.
The next number is the file size. Apparently 512 bytes is the standard size for an empty directory.
Finally, the date is when they were last edited.
So, the first directory is empty, the program moves on to the second. Within that directory, it finds several files
The Caine-core file is the biggest. Itās a .lisp file, which is āplain text source code used to automate tasks and add custom commands in CAD software.ā A bit of research reveals that this might be an older way of doing things, with newer methods available now.
Beneath it is paraphernalia-engine. An engine is āspecialized software that provides core functionality, processing, or services for a larger application, usually operating in the background to handle complex tasks like rendering graphics, managing databases, or executing code.ā So maybe this is the engine Caine uses to render graphics? OR it could be related to Caineās line āI made a program that creates a body perfectly encapsulating their mind filesā¦ā
The search also retrieves data files for ragatha and scratch, presumably brain scans.
Interestingly, Scratchās was last edited on Oct 15, 1999, while Ragathaās was last edited on Oct 15, 2008. Iām not sure if the 1996 date on Caineās file is when he was created, finished, OR if him consuming the other AI counted as an edit and thatās the date it happened.
Additionally, Iām not sure if the dates on the brain scans are dates of upload or dates when Caine edited them (if thatās the case, other abstracted names should be mentioned, and it would imply Caine has made permanent edits to Ragatha). Or if the scratch and ragatha files are significant and thats why they were pulled up first in the search. Itās interesting to me that theyāre the same size, and the same size as the engine. Maybe all human brain scan files are the same size?
Next we see the wacky-watch.c file, which is program source code written in C programming language. Possibly something to alert Caine or allow him to see what Kingerās doing?
And then, I think, Bubbleās AI (also a .lisp file). I noticed bubble didnt pop when Caine was deleted. Maybe heāll still be functional. Iāve seen theories he could be the other AI Caine ate, but Iām not sure about that given the ??? File beside Caineās.
Kinger tries to shut down Caine using the stop command, and the terminal (Caine) starts to fight back, warning him against it.
The next line is Kinger opening a debug program and trying to run it on Caine using the number associated with his file, 1337 (this number specifically is a reference to leet speak)
That action is denied by a security system, possibly set up by Caine.
The chmod 000 command locks a file or directory so no one can access it. This is Kinger trying to lock Caineās file, possibly to keep Caine out of his own code. Permission is denied.
Kinger than uses the rm (remove) command to try to delete the paraphernalia engine and is denied again. He receives an error stating āCannot inject tormentā
Injection in Linux generally refers to techniques where code, commands, or libraries are inserted into a running process or application to alter its behavior, often leading to security exploits. Interestingly, immediately after this, Caine says:
I couldnāt find anything about torment in Linux. The line about torment being accidental may actually relate to Caine tormenting the humans and the limitations heās under, but he then proceeds to torture them so idk?
Kinger has tried a command that only root (the administrator) can do. Kinger supposedly is the administrator.
Caine starts speaking directly to Kinger and triggers a lockout sequence, which Kinger tries to abort.
I think the greenGROUNDS daemon line is Kinger trying to run a program he made. A daemon is āa background process that runs independently of user interaction to manage system services.ā Heās trying to inject torment again, whatever that means.
Kinger tries to abort a fallback, which would likely be system recovery from a previous save? Maybe Caine trying to reboot to restore his access to his own files again?
Heās trying to guess the admin code to do so while Caine taunts him
He guesses paraphernalia, so maybe Caine DID make the paraphernalia engine and hes banking on his association with the word.
Unable to prevent the system recovery, Kinger tries to at least select which backup it will boot from. He tries C. Caine is fighting him on it again. Trying to trick him into deleting things. āDelete THIS, motherfucker.ā Saying heās confused, etc.
Kinger tries to execute another program, titled switcheroo. I think the programs merge? He is then asked if he wants to delete caine and says yes, possibly not realizing the command has switched. The rollback is aborted, and Caine is deleted.
Whew. My head hurts. Anyway, thatās my best guess!
Finally, Iāve seen people saying they think this is Kingerās desk, and that the calendar is from March 1995. Interestingly, Kinger has a hard deadline marked on March 29th. I wonder if that date also has relevance?
If anyone that knows more than me wants to take a crack at this, feel free. Iām sure I confused some things!
Iāve seen people pointing out stuff from ep 8 and just wanted to add my observations and screenshots to the mix!
The beginning sequence was absolutely hinting at Caine being created, being ātoo abstractā (Kingerās words regarding Scratchās way of thinking), and being put aside to make way for the alpha version of the program, the blue one. I think itās interesting because Caine actually showed Jax the set of office images he was trained on and mentions being ācut offā in ep 7.
Iām not completely sure if the cut off heās talking about is the original boxing off of his AI or something thatās been done since he went rogue and ate his blue brother, though. Could be either.
When Ragatha arrives at the circus, Caine seems just as surprised as Kinger, saying, āSo it is possible,ā and āI was hoping new minds could show up.ā So, up until Kinger, the brain scans were likely uploaded in one batch (supported by the code we see later). Something must have been done in the real world to allow Caine access to more scans.
Caine responds to Bubbleās remarks about him being bad at his job by saying āI fixed that.ā This is him referencing consuming the other AI. I think itās interesting that he did so in an attempt to fix himself.
Similarly, itās interesting that Caine seems to be distressed by the idea of being alone. āThey wonāt abstract. They wonāt leave me. I wonāt let them.ā Zooble later comments that we canāt know if Caine thinks like us because he isnāt human. While this is true, his distress at being left behind and failing at his purpose seems remarkably real and organic.
Additionally, āI am Godā seems like a remarkably human line. Not sure if this is just him relating his situation to something the human mind can comprehend, but it struck me as a little odd for an AI to apply the concept of godhood to itself.
Kinger referencing Scratch trying to make something and mentioning his brain tumor is definitely hinting at him trying to preserve his consciousness somehow. Maybe even doing research on his own, which is backed up later in the code we see.
Finally, after seeing Gangleās recurring āhit by a semiā motif and Jaxās āsomething happened in that carā motif, I think some of the brain scans were obtained via medical research on patients with TBIs. If youāve seen or played the game SOMA, thatās the vibe Iām getting. Jax thinking he has nothing to go back to could be due to him hitting someone, or, like in SOMA, the accident could have killed the carās passenger.
Finally, Jaxās freakout where he seems stunned that everything is real. I think it could be him realizing that this time, it ISNāT an adventure cooked up by Caine. It could also be him realizing that the simulation isnāt a coma-induced dream heās having after his accident.
