So...... seems like it has been a weird week in sports. The Yankees beat the Indians and yet their manager may not be back next season. US men’s soccer team loses 2-1 to Trinidad and Tobago, plus Costa Rica and Honduras win, equals USA does not qualify for 2018 World Cup. North Carolina basketball commits academic fraud but was not hit with any punishment at all.

Please let me know if I forgot anything

I’m not going to go into details about each issue, but come on people! What the hell are we watching? Where is the accountability? Where is the patience?

Through Four Eyes

I realized something as I was laying in bed at 3am this morning. I realized that I don't care anymore, I realized that I can't/won't/don't trust anymore, I realized that I'm tired of hurting both mentally and physically.

I know what I'm doing. And I know what most of you will say. I'm just so tired of being hurt. So by not trusting, by not caring, by not being invested 100% in something, I won't get hurt again. Yes, it's a defense mechanism. Sometimes the best defense will win you championships.

This is how I've been acting towards relationships, towards sport teams and towards people in general. This is how I have decided to act. It is my choice. I don't tell you how to act so please don't tell me. Everyone is different and everyone will act differently. This is what makes us unique and special, the fact that we are different.

Some people have decided to lie to me because they think it will be easier on me and that I may react nicer if I don't know the truth. This is so not the case. I want the truth, I need the truth. I tell my kids every day to tell the truth no matter what. I would rather be hurt by the truth than killed by a lie.

Most of you will not agree with my feelings and that's alright. We have that right to disagree and to feel differently towards different matters.

Off The Pitch

I'm really disappointed that I typed up a pretty lengthy post about the current state of Arsenal and then my phone shut off and it was all lost.

In a nut shell I basically mentioned; Wenger must go, Ozil and Sanchez must be sold, their quality replacements (Draxler, Isco, Brandt) must be brought in. Arsenal must also bring in a #1 GK and CB.

I'm offering my services to Arsenal in hopes of turning this club back into Premier League and Champions League title winners.

Trying Something New, sort of......

In the past I would take to social media and describe in great detail the things or situations that were, figuratively, killing me. And as nice as that was, me being able to express myself in writing, there was something missing. I was given this amazing tool of a webpage/ a Tumblr page/ social media, and I wasn't taking full advantage of it. Now I'm going to change that! So instead of talking about the things that are "killing me" I'm going to start talking or blogging about the things that I'm living for!

I know blogging isn't new and it probably isn't the "hip" thing to do now, but going to start and see where it takes me and how it changes me and my life, if at all. So you're probably asking yourself, "Brian, what makes you live?" or "Brian, what are you going to blog about?" Well that's simple. I'm going to start talking about my kids, Chase and Grace. I'll also talk about my girlfriend Mariah. Then I'll also be talkin about sports and more specifically the University of Michigan athletics, the New York Mets, The Philadelphia Eagles, wrestling, my job and many other, that seem to me anyway, interesting issues in sports, politics, life and entertainment.

Today's lesson for the dad going through divorce is one that is not learned immediately. This lesson takes time. Lesson number 3 is about confidence. At first, I was upset because I was alone. Me thinking I was alone meant I had to do everything by myself and alone. And for that reason alone, I was afraid to do anything. I didn't leave the house. I didn't want to go anywhere. It wasn't until 10 months later that I realized I could do this! I can finish school. I can raise two kids on my own. I can take my kids out of the house and we can be happy doing things just the three of us. So lesson number is an easy one to learn but very difficult to realize. Have confidence in everything you do. Once you have found this confidence you will feel happier and if there are kids involved, they will be happier.

Dad's Problems 05272016.02

The following really only applies to those going through a divorce with children involved. No matter what is said, no matter what decisions have been made or still need to be made, the number one priority must be the children. Yes, you don't like her and yes, she hates you. You must put all that aside and be civil and compromise in the best interest of the child(ren). Everything changes when you put the kids first. Yeah you want half of the bank account and yeah she wants half of your 401k. But did anyone ask the children what they want? At first I wanted to move as far away as possible. Now, with me putting the kids interests first, I want to stay close, I want the kids to stay in the current school district, I want to see them as much as possible. And if I get custody of them I want their mom to see them and have equal visitation like I have now. Lesson #1 - Talk Lesson #2 - Children first

Dad's Log 05242016.01

If there's one thing I've learned over the past year (with going through a separation, being kicked out of the house, being told that she wants a divorce, etc...) , I've learned that if you both want it over, you need to talk about things. My ex made so many snap decisions, she didn't think about things and the impact on others. She didn't talk to me about getting a divorce. She made up her mind without thinking about our children or anything else that our marriage had. If you notice things going downhill, talk to your spouse, and do it now! My ex and I could have signed the papers months ago. But she decided not to talk to me about the kids, about a visitation schedule, about money in our account, about the 401k accounts. She didn't want to talk about anything and that has lead to a very long drawn out divorce, where we are over a year later and still haven't signed the papers. Maybe the lack of conversation is the reason for divorce. You will need to put that aside for the best interest of the children (if there are any) and to love the process along. Take it from me, talk now so you don't have to deal with your spouse any longer than you have to. It's no fun meeting up once a month in court or paying thousands of dollars for a lawyer. Bite the bullet and talk, discuss, understand and compromise now. Remember it's not about winning or losing, it's not about right or wrong. It's about the children and what is in their best interest

Sometimes change can be good

I started this Tumblr page just over a year ago. It was meant to give you an look inside my life as a 39 year old married dad, full time student, moving towards graduation. At the time I was an Coaching major and still am today. Not only was I going to give insight into my world but I was also going to share coaching and basketball information Well, a year later and so much has changed! Not all change is good, but sometimes change can be good. Since the start of this page, I have completed three semesters of school, I'm going through a divorce, I only get to see my kids on the weekend. So, yeah, a great many things have changed. At first, I was broken, and to a point I still am. I may have started to go through a serious bout of depression. I strayed seeing a counselor. And seeing this counselor has really changed my mind and my views on myself, my kids, my future and the world. I have decided to change the main point of the page from my future, coaching and basketball to being a divorced dad, raising two kids and going to school with graduation on the horizon. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Days To Come......

The semester is almost finished. Three weeks remain (not counting Thanksgiving week). The struggle to finish and finish strong is true and real. I will encounter many outside distractions that will test my mental make-up. A strong support system will be key as will my ability to focus and block out the negativity.
