Brian on the Sea with Flowers, March 2021 This portrait is meant to be a companion to Van Gogh’s and an evolution of an older, digital one I made 10 years ago. Some people are born with the sun in their hearts, and I think Brian is one of them. It warmed him, it made him glow, and sometimes it burned him. Brian and Vincent have different backgrounds and worked with different media, but the way they expressed their feelings through colourful works of art is very similar. The thick harmonies of Brian’s early songs remind me of Vincent’s thick brushstrokes. If I close my eyes while listening to “Til I die”, I can see Vincent’s waves in the water, in the fields, in the sky. He, too, expressed his pain and anguish through sounds that felt like colours. It served as therapy until he got actual help - would we have SMiLE if Brian hadn’t felt the mighty need to express his feelings in music form? Probably not, but I’d give it up in exchange for Brian’s peace of mind.

Hello everyone.

Sorry for neglecting this blog - not for lack of interest, but because I don't use Tumblr as much as I used to. I'm always up to date when it comes to Brian news, but it's difficult to find the time to come here and post about it!

The news of Melinda's passing came out of nowhere, and it left me speechless and hurting. If somehow this message reaches Brian's family, I hope they know I (and many other people like me, I know) am so sorry for this loss. I hope Brian feels surrounded by love.
