Blue Rocks Nova Scotia Dec 2020 

The Geology of Blue rocks fascinate me. To think the unique blue folded sedimentary rock is over 400 million year old. It was part of an ancient continent that was found as south as the south pole and that the same blue rocks can be found in some parts of Africa, blows my mind. It is maybe why I feel drawn to this place.

It has been a while since I posted to this blog !  As I prepared my submission for a local Photo event called FlashWR, I thought I would post some of my favourites that did not make the cut and just give you a bit of the backstory behind each image. Narrowing down to 3 of your best with no context is pretty tough nut to crack.

my Father handed me a pile of negatives, I scanned them here they are.  I am compelled to archive them online. Next few post will be what I have salvaged from them. enjoy the trip back in time..

The Forgotten,  PT 1

 A collection of forgotten Holga shots, taken over the last 10 years, I recently had the urge to get these images digitized and "positivitify".

So i dirty scanned them;  how do you home dirty scan? funny you should ask:

step1 ) scotch tape your negatives to the screen of your computer

step 2) shoot it with your smart phone

step 3) inverse images either in a phone filter or in photoshop ( shortcut is command I )

step 4) upload images to personal photo blog that no one ever looks at :)

step 5) scrape tape off computer screen while cursing yourself for putting tape on your screen and negative, dick head... stop procrastinating and get back to work.

mauritius, family album documentation

in 2009 I visited Mauritius Island to attend my grandmother’s funeral, While I was there I tried to document all my relatives photo’s, I am not sure what compelled me to do so but maybe it had to do with the feeling that when my grandmother died, it felt to me as if my link to this magical place was gone.

I am extremely appreciative to all the kindness and generosity shown by my relatives during this trip, and for giving me access to this wealth of history.  I miss you all and hope to return to visit soon.

 Many of the faces I recognize, and many I don't, I hope to find out who they are, and by doing so find out, more about myself, and where I am from.
