@bridgesbvrned liked this for a starter
“John. ¿Qué está pasando? You haven’t turned in your last three assignments.” Her voice held an almost motherly concern as she addressed the young man before her. Julie had been advised numerous times to take a more “authoritarian” approach with her students, but didn’t have the heart. “Your Spanish grades are usually great – excellent, really – and you always come to class,” she continued in the same tone. “Now, I refuse to believe you’re just slacking off. Hablamé. Is everything all right?”
His mind was anywhere but the classroom right then. It wasn’t focused so much on a place but a person. That was why he jumped slightly as he was addressed by Professor Power. His gaze immediately dropped at the mention of missed assignments. “Sorry, señora. I didn’t realize.” She was one of the few teachers he liked, and enjoyed the subject she taught. But he hadn’t put forth much effort recently. When she spoke of his grades and attendance, he couldn’t help but feel worse. He liked to believe he didn’t need or even want the approval or praise of authority figures, since he had grown up without it. That wasn’t quite the case. He picked at a piece of notebook paper in front of him, not really wanting to answer her question. “I’m just ━ distracted. Confused about some stuff.” It wasn’t exactly a lie.
Flashback | Leaving Tonight | John&Bobby
@iceydrake
He had to do this. It wasn’t fair of him that he had held it off this long.
The times he had even bridged the topic of switching from Xavier’s to Hellfire had ended in tense silences with them not speaking for a few hours. That was the longest they could last without talking to each other.
This was different. He was actually switching this time. It wasn’t a hypothetical situation that might never happen. It was happening. He just hadn’t told him yet.
John sat on his bed, staring at Bobby’s a few feet away from his. He was due to come back from class within the next few minutes. Every part of him wanted to put it off further, make some excuse for why it could wait. If he did that, he’d never attend Hellfire. Maybe that’s for the best.
He swallowed thickly, and his body tensed as the doorknob turned. Would he hate him? Never want to speak to him again? That fear was what made him procrastinate on telling him. He didn’t want to lose his best friend.
When Bobby came inside, John smiled over at him, as if things were fine. “Hey, Bobert,” he greeted teasingly. He could wait a few minutes, before he did have to tell him. “How many asses did you kick in the danger room today?”

🌈 for a random encounter starter
Reyna stopped abruptly in the doorway when she was confronted with a young man she’d never met before. “Fu… This isn’t my room is it?” She let out an annoyed groan. This place was more confusing than she cared to admit.
John had been resting on his bed, when he heard the door open. Should have locked it. It was too late to do that now with the stranger already inside, clearly confused. “Nope. Unless you’re my new roommate who I haven’t been told about.” He gave her a once over. “What room are you supposed to be in?”
he is sitting on your front step and lighting a cigarette even though he would never let you touch one because “they’ll kill you,” he said, he is leaning back on his elbows and giving you that crooked smile that reminds you of an empty blue sky and you want to ask him if he’s ever really going to be happy or you’re supposed to pretend you don’t know that he’s going dark again you want to ask if maybe the problem is really that he doesn’t feel anything much less love or it’s actually just that you’re not good enough but god, this boy is a spinning top and a bad choice wrapped up in one, a sense of disaster in the trail behind him, he makes you feel exactly the same way as when you were seven and at the top of a hill on your brother’s bike and halfway down the brakes stopped working but you sit there and your tongue is tied and he’s so incredibly unsolvably sad inside and it’s something so even though you want to speak you say nothing.
“he’s so beautiful and it’s sad he never saw himself the way i saw him. i loved him, i really love him.” // r.i.d (via inkskinned)

Bobby pursed his lips as he watched his old friend. “Training,” he said finally. “I’m still trying to figure out how to become a.. well an ice man. I’m supposed to be able to- never mind. I just wanted a quiet place to work. I didn’t know anyone was here.” He cleared his throat a little. “Haven’t seen you in a while.” He hated himself in that moment, hated the way his blood was running both hot and cold, hated that his heart was beating harder and that there was a lump in his throat.
“Right.” It was a stupid question. Why else would Bobby be down here? The corner of his mouth raised, and his eyebrows raised. “No, go on, supposed to be able to what?” He didn’t have the right to know, not anymore. He was lucky that Bobby was even talking to him. “You don’t have to leave. I wouldn’t bother you. Or distract you.” His eyes fell when he mentioned it’d been awhile. The last time they saw each other...He swallowed thickly. “Yeah. Uh.” His gaze raised to his old friend once more. “I’ve missed seeing you.”
namorkenzie:
He leaned forwards, whispering under his breath as if telling a secret. “Cause I’m from Atlantis. I live and breathe underwater, and you’d dissolve down in the deep ocean.” He stood upright now, straightening his back. “So I couldn’t enlist you down with the Atlanteans, because your powers are useless there. But here, you could do a lot. And I hope to watch you grow because,” he pointed to the younger man “you’ve got a lotta potential. Physically and with your powers. Not all students here are fighters. Not that I’m looking for another fight, of course, but we have to be ready. I think the professor is learning that the hard way.”
His brows raised as he leaned forward. “Atlantis is real? Figures.” He huffed slightly at what he said next. “Good thing I don’t plan on taking a trip to ocean anytime soon.” It wasn’t a dream of his to join an Atlantean army either. Even if he just found out something like that existed only a few minutes ago. He shrugged at him talking about his potential. He knew that. Shaking his head from the mention of professor, he folded his arms. “The professor is too busy worrying about what the humans think. I’ll believe that he’s learning when I see it.”
davidwhitehall:
David was almost sleeping when someone started to talk and woke him up. “Relax dude… I’m here…” He said waking his hand so the boy could see him but not moving since he was comfortable. “But hey… Do your best if you want… Or worse… whatever.” He said not caring
John eyed the man once he saw him, not quite pleased that he wasn’t alone like he preferred while he was training. “This place isn’t somewhere to rest,” he replied haughtily. “You have a dorm for that, I believe. So if you wouldn’t mind ━ ” he gestured toward the door, before turning his back to him again.
namorkenzie:
“Do you consider watching and studying to be different? You just look like a good soldier. Too bad your powers include fire. Still, pretty sure this school is lucky to have you here. I think the younger kids could learn a few things from you.” Namor stepped forward, outstretching a hand to introduce himself. “I’m Namor.”
The blonde’s eyes narrowed at the voice he didn’t recognize. His remark about his fire powers didn’t help matters. “And why is it too bad my powers include fire?” He could already hear the reasons in his head. Fire was destructive. Dangerous. Harmful. Sure, he used it to defend himself, and some could say he went overboard at points. But that didn’t mean it was purely bad. He glanced down at his hand, before taking it in his own to shake. “I’m John. Most call me Pyro.”
iceydrake:
Bobby felt his eyes dart downward. Oh fuck. Fuck. They hadn’t even spoken in… Well, not since John had switched sides. Bobby let out a slow breathe before stepping out. “It was me. I didn’t know you were in here.” It was true, he hadn’t, until he came in and saw him. and although logic told him to get out… He couldn’t look away. Had John always been so… well sculpted? Yes, he had. He knew that. He cleared his throat and looked at his old friend, forcing his eyes not to stray. I like girls, I like girls, I like girls. Not boys. Not boys. I’m not gay.
John’s hand was already forming a fist as he waited to see if the person would reveal themselves or not. That was when he heard that voice and saw his face. His fingers uncurled and the tension in his shoulders lessened slightly. “Oh, hey, Bobby,” he replied, albeit less confidently than he had before. Things were different. How couldn’t they be? He had switched to Hellfire. It was almost like cutting himself off from Bobby altogether, even though they were still on the same campus. A betrayal. He had to shake that thought away from his head, trying for a bit of a smug smile at his old friend. “I’d give you a C+ maybe on that sneaking around. Gotta work on that.” The way he was staring at him even now it was difficult to ignore. It sent a shiver down his spine. “Why’d you come down here anyway?”
“I don’t like being watched,” John spoke up, pausing in his punches against the dummy to glance around the space. “So, whoever it is, it’d be best if you come out and show yourself, cause I don’t plan on being too kind if I have to look for you.”
