Whiff
There is nothing sexier to me than a smelling myself— or preferably another guy’s — stench waft up through his clothes so I can catch a whiff. Whether it’s pits, crotch, feet, or crack, the stink of another man filtered through the smell of linen or cotton or workout synthetics is the same burst of sensation as bright flowers against a green field, stars in the sky, or compliment on an otherwise bland day.
When I walk into my room, I can smell the corn-chip like smell of gym shoes and sox. Warm never-washed briefs almost slimy with cum, sweat and dribbled piss deposits have a strong, briny odor that is warm and comforting. It goes all the way back to childhood memories of bed-wetting and diapers. There is something primal and connected about it.
The spice of body odor makes me feel a camaraderie with other men, with other people. The warm waft of it in a concert crowd, or a subway car always makes me want to ask ‘who smells so good?’ and to try to make friends. I always hope at the gym that the cloud of b.o. that hovers around me will draw another man (or men? dare I hope) closer in so we can hit each other up, talk and trade numbers.
The stink of a bathroom, dense with molecules of fresh and stale shit and piss is as heady as a lockerroom with the locked-in aroma of the bodies of the hundreds of men whose feet have tread the floor, whose sweat has helped re-stain the floorboards, and maybe whose cum has spattered the salt-rusted walls of the stalls.
It is smell that helps me be myself and to know another man. When I can detect a body odor, I am drawn in. When it’s full-on, in a make-out roll on a bed, I am lost to it. Time and worry cease to exist. For then, it is just touch and sound, groans and moans and smells and the slick brush of wet lips and hot tongues. The salt of skin, the brine of underwear, the tang of the asshole, it all sends me over an edge again and again. Even after coming, the smell remains, an echo of the pleasure we made that hopefully adds to the room a layer that later will be enjoyed by others.
