âShe plays hard to get.â She repeated, looking at him with an incredulous expression, though she didnât know why this was so surprising to her. âHave you ever thought, perhaps, sheâs just not into you? Maybe the fact that you donât listen? Thatâs a turn-off for everyone whoâs not with you just because⊠â She gave it some thought. âThere must be something really good about you if you and your friends have so many fans. I just⊠donât see any of it right now.â
James just nodded seeing nothing wrong her statement. âNah. She loves me. I am awesome after all. Eh, take your time. Or I can help. I am handsome. Charming. Good at sports. Funny. Charming. See there are some right off the top of my head. I am awesome. Iâll let you have some time to come up with your own.âÂ

Elizabeth was truly trying to be discrete but⊠How could she really accomplish it when it was him running away from her as though she had done something to offend him? She wasnât even talking that loud, so the looks they got could all come from several factors; her being half-veela, them both being students no one had seen before this year, a lovers spat going on⊠who knew? As sheâd told him before, this went beyond the two of them, and the sooner they accepted it, the better. Still, if he kept this up⊠then she would stop trying. For all she cared they could just see each other again when they married. Elizabeth was more than ready to give up when his own hand grabbed her wrist and tugged her along with him inside a room; a classroom to be more exact.Â
For a few moments she was frightened by what he did, uncertainty soon taking over enough for her to think, just think, of trying to pull her hand away from his grasp. Still, before she could argue anymore or tell him to let go of her, he turned around, pulling her in close to his body, enough for his arms to wrap around her and keep her still for the kiss that would subsequently come. Liz didnât quite know how to react, meaning to say; her body was reacting to his and of course it would since Alexzander wasnât repulsive to her despite his terrible manners. Still, her mind ran at top speeds trying to figure out just what was happening in his own, coming up with no answer as her arms finally wrapped around his neck and she stood on her toes to make it easier for him to kiss her. Her head tilted a little as if to lean into his touch with his hand now in her hair. The silvery glow in her only intensified with their contact, something he would notice, even with his eyes closed. Her hands slid down to his face, thumbs grazing at the sides of his jawline, then further down to the corners of his lips, where she pulled away momentarily, only to press some more, separate, punctuated ones and then follow into a long one, as if wanting to reassure him this was fine.
With his lips upon her finally, peace and quiet, though he would be lying if he was to say he didnât enjoy it. Maybe marriage wouldnât be so bad. Then his mind shot back to his parents, their unapproving faces with every little thing he did, even though they were not around often enough to know there were things he could do that would make them prouder than they would ever realize. He created potions like one did with spells. He could cast spells non-verbally, most of the time. And he was an advanced Transfigurations student who had successfully able to be an unregistered animagi. Even if he enjoyed this, there was no way she could love him if he was all those things, and his parents couldnât.
He suddenly pulled back mid-kiss. âSee. Nothing. We could never be a match.â Even though he spoke those words, it was all but a lie. He enjoyed it. Greatly. It was very present in his trousers recent change in attention. But she was too much of a lady to bring up such body part. He admired her silvery glow that beamed brightly between them. He felt slightly hurt by the fact of his lie for he did enjoy it, but alas it could never be.Â
Daniel looked at Hogwarts with an expression of amusement. Sure, Beauxbaton was beautiful, but Hogwart was just to full of possibilities. âIsnât it lovely?â He asked a random person that was walking around, as if suddenly starting conversations with strangers was the most normal thing in the world. He spoke with a heavy accent, looking over to the moving stairs and not even glancing at the person next to him.
Viola was sitting by the Great Hall reading a book on Divinations when a French boy by the sounds of his rather thick accent spoke. She looked up trying to find what he was looking at yet assuming he might have meant Hogwarts, she chuckled closing her book, âYes. It is. You are feeling what we all did at the beginning of our first year. Sadly, after five years it passes.â She frowned feeling a little envious that he could feel as he did about Hogwarts.Â
after a stressful day, alice often liked to come to the greenhouses. she kept every other aspect of her life neat and clean â her notes, her room, even her sock drawer, but in the greenhouses she didnât have to worry about that. she could get soil underneath her nails and nobody cared. tying the apron she kept in the greenhouse around her waist, alice got to work on a loudly complaining screechsnap plant which had gotten too big for its pot. she had just lifted it out of the soil when she heard the door to the greenhouses open. glancing over her shoulder, she saw the familiar face of rys gaulthier, and she flashed him a warm smile. â â oh good, youâre just in time to help me repot this screechsnap. â / @briexmars
Rys was checking the pot of repotted Mandrakeâs the Second Years had been working on previously the past day. They looked good, outside a few of them having moved their soil about. He covered them slightly before he made his way outside the greenhouse door to pick up a book to sit and read for a bit while he had a chance to study. When he came back in, he found Alice glancing over her shoulder having just begun repotting a screechsnap. âIt would be a pleasure. How are you today Alice?â He asked putting his apron back on and hurrying to her side.Â

âHow is anyone supposed to want to marry someone if they do not get to know each other?â She asked him, growing a little desperate with how nonchalant and uncaring he seemed. âI wish that was the case but it is not. This is as little about me as it is about you. Why is it impossible for us to make something not so terrible out of this? Why is it impossible for you?â She wondered, suddenly irked by his remark about her being part veela. What in the heavens did that have to do with anything? She opened her mouth again, only to be shot down as he said he didnât care what she did as he turned to leave. She followed after him much like a lost dog would; something that embarrassed her quite a lot. Her small hand wrapped around his wrist, not willing to just let him go without further talking about it. âAlexander, please.â She swallowed then. âI cannot get us out of this any more than you can. Do you really want us to be cold to each other? Are you seeing someone? Whatever it is, I can understand, but we need to make a deal for the sake of us.â
Alex vocally groaned with annoyance as she followed along behind him like a dog going after a bone. Alex clenched his fist irked by the scene she was causing. The students around then glanced back as she whined for him to explain himself. He owed her nothing. He owed his parents nothing. Why did it matter if the two of them married? What, so their parents could be annoying rumplestilskins and steal their first born child? The moment he felt her warm little hand wrapped around his wrist. He did not want to put on a show for everyone and their house elf to gossip about. In frustration, he yanked his hand out of hers, grabbed her wrist in turn and pulled the both of them into the classroom. At this point, he doubted he would have any feelings fore her. She was pretty yet whiney.Â
She was sweet yet tried too hard. It was annoying. But, she had something right. They needed to have affection. Some sort of chemistry. Right? Well, what better time to find out then in the now. In the deserted classroom that he had pulled them into, Alex pulled her wrist towards him, her body now in his hands with his lean arms wrapped around her body as he pushed her into the wall and placed a sudden kiss upon her lips. The moment her lips hit his Alex suddenly felt calmer. His shoulders dropped. His furrowed brow relaxed. And, his mind eased. Alex groaned into the kiss, his hand in her hair as he leaned down what felt like to the ground given their height differences. She probably didnât want to kiss him, but he needed to know. Needed to see how it felt. He had never had romantic feelings for someone. Never had he kissed someone. But based on his groinâs reaction, he was enjoying it.Â

It irked her to hear him call her that when it was very clear she was not dear to him in the slightest, still, she sighed, shrugging it off and finally starting to say what sheâd be planning to all day. âI must apologize for my behaviour when we met.â Even if you wonât apologize for yours. She thought to herself. âI⊠what I said is the truth. I wish I didnât have to marry, but it is the situation we are now in, and being unkind to each other is not going to change that. I had wanted to be considerate but⊠you must admit scaring someone and belittling them is no way to make a first impression.â She asked, swallowing. âI am not perfect, but I am certainly not as unconsiderate as I came across that night.â
Alex stood back against the wall of the door of the Great Hall. Surprised by her apology his face still remained motionless. âApology accepted.â He stated his shoulders shaking with a smug grin. At the rest of her words, he nodded, leaning his head back against the wall. âI see. So, you donât want to marry me and you donât have a sense of humor? Thatâs fair.â He wouldnât want to marry him either. No one probably did. âBut, why do this? Why go through with something you obviously donât want to. Donât you have your parents eating out of your hand? The way you look, carry yourself, like a good little Veela girl.â He shook his head with the roll of his eyes. She was never going to just go away.â Just donât do it.â With a groaning sigh, âNevermind. I donât care.â He ushered her away with his hand as he turned to leave. Why did he care? It made his stomach ache and his palms sweat. This girl got to him in ways he had never experienced, but she would never see it from him. Never see the way in which he felt. She wouldnât truly care. She was lying to him. As they all did. She could never love him. He was nothing.Â
âUgh, I am so bored already. Why did Summer have to end?â
âEntschuldigen Sie mich, I think you dropped this.â Theo informed picking up the item and handing it to the other.

âPlanning, and hoping that it works out.â Mary shot back, offering a smile as she leaned her arm on his shoulder. The new kids - especially those from Durmstrang - made her nervous, although she bit back the feeling that rose up within. âI doubt that the Minister would let a psychopath into the dorms, J. If they do, though, will you write me a convincing eulogy? Throw in some sniffles and sobs, have Remus handing you tissues every five seconds, you know, the usual.â
James snorted, happy to know someone else felt the same way he did, âYes! Thatâs my girl.â He joked throwing a fist in the air. âEh, I highly the Ministry would look for such a thing. Which makes it all the more euh-,âHe shivered with a face, âOf course I will! Iâll have everyone sobbing, quoting cool-ass dead people and shit as I cry into my hanky with Remus at my side. Itâll be beautiful and then afterward we would get drunk in your honor. Youâd be very proud.

âWell, next time Lily humiliates you in public you might want to evaluate the things that come out of your mouth.â Elizabeth suggested, not as angry as she was simply annoyed by his lack of tact. âMaybe one day youâll realize not everything that goes through your mind should be spoken.â
âLily doesnât humiliate me, she plays hard to get. We have fun.â James shrugged her comment off. âPfft, I am awesome. You just havenât realized it yet.â And yet again, he completely ignores her words without even meaning too. It was a skill that even he didnât realize he possessed.Â

He could hear his mother and father in the other room, their words muffled by the exterior of the house walls, but their words rang with each and every shout at the other. Up till recent events, they never fought. They were reasonable towards each other. They didnât publicly display their affection but it was noticeable that it was there. Until his father had found his robes, his wand, his belongings of a Durmstrang wizard.Â
To any pureblood witch or wizard such I find would have lead to a shrug. And, maybe a muggle born magical student would have had the same reaction to such spell books would have been gazed at as if fictional works. But, not his family, and certainly not his father. His father was a devoted Catholic who also served in the German Army. He was intense, stern, and up to this point in his life he couldnât think of a single instance of his father even uttering the words, âI love you.â It was this reason alone he would never tell his father that A. He was a wizard with a wand, with an owl that delivered mail and that he went to a fancy boarding school that taught him how to do âmagic tricksâ. That alone would set him off. On top of that, his youngest full-blooded son as his father liked to put it on occasion was also very much into full-blooded MEN. Theo had known for quite some time as had his mother.Â
But, as he sat there listening outside the door, he shook with anger and fear. He could hear his fatherâs voice raising in octaves yelling at his mother informing her that Theo was not his son, but the spawn of the devil himself. Theo rolled his eyes with the shake of his head. The amount of close-mindedness his father was, was laughable at best. He had been blind to his sonâs orientation and boarding school life for almost all of his school career. But, no longer. He didnât know the reason as to why his father had gone snooping in his room, but he had found his luggage. It was his fault really. His fault for being so careless and not properly concealing the items. And now, his mother was getting the blame. Â
He heard his father yell and something large hit the door with a thunk and a groan. He jumped up, swinging the door open to find his motherâs body hunched on all fours laying in a heap against the frame of the door. His jaw clenched as he helped her up.Â
âDonât make another move you Satan lovers!â Theo slowed to a stop with his motherâs arm wrapped around his shoulder as she leaned into him. Her breathing forced and light. He was warning him? Who was he to speak, aside from being a wife beater?Â
Through clenched teeth Theo looked up at him, âAnd what, exactly, will, you do?â He asked slowly, his eyes piercing as he glared at the sperm donor across from him. The man clenches his fists as his chest rose and fell in anger. Theo could feel his weak mother in his arms drooping more and more. His mind raced instantly to the idea of a concussion or worse. HIs stomach ached. HIs heart was racing, and as he stood there in what felt like a standoff his shoulderâs dropped. The furniture around them began to shake with each word his âfatherâ spoke, âYou have ten minutes to collect your trash and move out of my house.âÂ
Theoâs breathing quickened as it took all his might to keep himself from launching at the man in front of him. âNo.â He stated, lowering his mother into the chair next to the doorframe. Â
âWhat did you say to me boy?âÂ
âCould you no hear me, Sir? I said, No. We will not collect our things,â He corrected, âYou will leave. We will collect our things in peace. And, I will have the time necessary to examine your wife who you threw against a FUCKING DOOR, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!â He tried to keep calm. He tried to stay in check. But, he couldnât. Not anymore. He had resisted the urge to speak his mind of years. As he learned about the wizarding world, what he could do, who he was, he no longer felt he could just stand by and let this horrible excuse for a man run his life. Not anymore. His body was hot with his forehead dripping with sweat.Â
Without a word, his father lurched at him taking his neck into his hands. His mother groaned behind him. Theoâs teeth clenched as his airway became blocked. His breathing in gasps. All the years of Quidditch, Dueling, and weight lifting coursed through him. The bent up anger he had suppressed fueled the rage in his eyes and an urn of the manâs mother game soaring from the fireplace behind him slamming hard into the side of his head as it smashed ashes of his late mother drenched his exterior. As the large man fell to the ground Theoâs tried to calm his shaking body. His eyes closed for a moment in an attempt to slow his mind and body. He wanted to throw the lump out the window. Wanted to kick him as he lay on the hard floor. But, he would not stoop so low. Would not be the man who lay unconscious.Â
âTheo,â A whisper came from behind him. He turned, ushering to his motherâs side, âIâll be okay. Just do what you can. Get my enchanted bag in the closet and put everything in it you can. We wonât have long till he wakes. His anger...he will kill you.â A tear dropped from her face as her chin quivered yet still she was as beautiful as ever. They only ever needed each other. He would protect her. From everything.Â
âYou think with all the new transfer students there will be more additions to the Magical Theory club? It is disappointingly barren.â
âAlexzander, mon cher, I believe we need to talk.â
@briexmars
âYes. Dear. What is there to talk about?â
puddlns:
âNo, hey, listen⊠I-I donât want your charity. Iâm alright.â Liz rushed to shake her head, setting her bag on the table to inspect the insides as she saw him taking a seat near her. âHave they ever gone well for me?â She wondered after a small snort. âWhat do you care? Weâve never gotten along before. Donât even worry.â
âThose have been in my bag for like a year. I think it is more charity to the inkwells. But if you donât want them, leave them. Someone else will pick them up.â At her snappy comments, James threw his hands up feeling overwhelmed and curious to why she was so angry. One second she was apologizing while the next she was basically yelling at him again. âDo you need me to get one of the ladies...for lady things?â He asked completely unaware of how he sounded, as he pointed towards the group of girls by the door.

Nothing could have prepared her for this. Amelia had spent the summer keeping a safe distance, using the time to heal so that sheâd be alright upon her return to Hogwarts. And sheâd thought she was ready, she truly had. In this moment, however, sitting across from the girl whoâd broken her heart, Amelia felt her wound re-open as though someone had hacked away at the stitches with a box cutter. Viola looked just as beautiful as ever, perhaps even more beautiful than Ameliaâs memory had preserved her. As she stared, her plate of roast chicken and potatoes sitting untouched in front of her, Amelia couldnât help but delve back into that memory now, remembering a time when the thought of Viola didnât just bring pain:
Amelia laid back against the trunk of the large oak tree, thankful for the relief it provided from the intense heat of early June. Textbooks, parchment, and various instruments were scattered around her, but not even the looming threat of her OWLs could bring her out of this euphoria. She pulled Viola closer beside her, bodies pressed together gently as they kissed. âIâve really got to study, you know,â she mumbled, trailing kisses along Violaâs neck. âIf I receive any OWL below an âexceeds expectations,â itâs entirely your fault.â But for once, for just a few minutes, Amelia ignored her studying and allowed them their happy moment. At least, it was happy for her.Â
Back at the Ravenclaw table, during the welcome feast, Amelia stared diagonally across at her ex-happiness. She couldnât say anything, not yet; but she knew the time for confrontation was fast approaching.Â
Viola hadnât seen Amelia for weeks. Not since she had probably too abruptly ended things between them after...an enjoyable six months. It was a perfectly valid reason though to have left each other. Viola had cheated. She knew it was a rule in relationships. Sheâd seen her mother cry in a bucket of chocolate loverâs ice cream many times for it, but had never been on the receiving end. Nope, she had just started fall for said someone. Her stomach would cramp up. Her hands would sweat. She got all nervous and queasy when she was around Amelia. She knew she would never, at least to her knowledge, break it off with her, so she did it herself. Just like a band-aid.Â
As she sat there playing with her potatoes she could feel Ameliaâs eyes on her. She couldnât bring herself to look up at her though, to show that she was affected by her presence. She ran shortly after the informed experience, remembering it all too well:Â
Viola nodded watching Ameliaâs lips move in their grace and beauty, plump and full of life. She loved it. She hated that she did. Viola began to sweat as she spoke the sound of loud kissing ringing in her ears, the sound of her sin on repeat...constantly as she stared at the love in front of her. And as she watched Amelia speak a smile at the corner of her lips she blurted it out. Blurted her sin out, unable to contain it. The courtyard went quiet as she realized the location they were.Â
The hurt and pain on her now exâs face had stayed permanently glued to her brain all summer. She was the reason sheâd lost 10 lbs. Couldnât eat. Couldnât sleep. She was all she thought about. She could feel the reds of her cheeks growing in a blush as she caught a glimpse across the table. Why had they done this to themselves? Why did she have to be late? Why had she slept on the train? She couldnât have been the first one off? Nope, cause this veela-compared beauty had kept her up even if she didnât know it. And as she glanced quickly up at her, her eyes caught her still-loveâs eyes. Fuck. My. Life.Â
