Unpredicted Playmate [Childhood AU] || Serena and Kotone
Serena kicked her feet as she ate her breakfast. She pondered on what she would do that day. She took another big gulp of hr cereal before she jumped out of her chair and ran up to her room. “Serena!” Called out her mother. “I want you to go out and play with some of the other children while your father and I are out of town you can’t just sit in your room all day.”
The blond let out and annoyed huff of air before grabbing her pink ball and walking down the stairs urning her a pat on the head from her mother. “See that isn’t to hard now is it.” She smiled before grabbing a few of her bags and leaving out the front door with her father. The small girl looked down. “Yea but no one likes me like they like you.” Doing as she was told Serena made her way down to the park.
Once she entered she saw many kids playing.looking over to her left Serena saw a group of kids playing kick ball. The girl walked over and held out her ball. “Can I play too?” Instead of getting an answer she was just given harsh looks from the other kids. She brought her ball back in to her chest and walked away listening as the others started their game again laughing and having fun, while she got harsh looks from every group of kids she past.

Do you want to play?
Kotone stared blankly at the girl, wondering if she had heard correctly. Since her father died, Kotone had been staying away from the other children. If someone did come near her, they usually noticed her depressed demeanor and decided to just leave her alone. She didn’t understand why the blond would want to play with Kotone.
Replaying the words in her head, the brunette realized that the girl had spoken with fear. She wondered why she seemed scared, but decided not to ask. Instead, she nodded and stood up. She held her hand out, looking at the girl. “My name’s Kotone. What’s your name?”
Offering a small smile, the young girl waited for the blond to reply. She wasn’t sure why she seemed to be hesitant or why she wasn’t talking to the other children, but Kotone figured she needed a friend just as badly as she did. Rather than moping around, she would try to have friend and make a friend.
Training Buddies! || Wally and Kotone
Kotone never really thought of herself as a good trainer. Sure, she won a lot of battles and was champion at one point, but she never really thought she was good. She was sure there were people much better than her and figured she was decent at best. So when a green haired boy came up to her asking for training tips, she was pretty surprised.
“Training tips?” Kotone repeated the words, blinking a few times. Before thinking it through, she let out an excited squeak. “Yea, I can give you training tips! Ooooh, this will be so much fun!” The brunette spun in a circle, letting out some of the energy she had. She clapped, looking up at the boy. “I’m so excited!”
After finally calming down, the young girl tapped her finger against her chin. “Lets see... training tips, training tips...” She hummed quietly to herself, trying to think of what kind of help she could give. After a few minutes, she let out a sigh. “I can’t think of anything...”
Not being one to get easily discouraged, Kotone offered a bright smile. “Let’s get to know each other first!” Before the boy could even nod, the girl started spouting out questions. “What’s your name? How old are you? What’s your favorite color? What’s your favorite food? How many pairs of shoes do you have? Is your family big or small? Where were you born? Why is your hair green?” Not wanting to scare him off, Kotone sheepishly laughed. “You don’t have to answer all of those, if you don’t want to!”
Unpredicted Playmate [Childhood AU] || Serena and Kotone
Smiles. Around every corner, everything Kotone saw was filled with happiness and joy. She furrowed her eyebrows, feeling the tears start to well up again. She harshly inhaled, trying to calm herself down as she wiped the tears from her face. “He’s not coming back.” She spoke to herself, her voice silent, almost a whisper. “I have to accept that.” She heard those words over and over again, mostly from people who were friends with her father. They told her she had to accept that he was gone forever, but she didn’t want to. She wanted him to come back, and she didn’t want him to ever leave again.
Despite her desperate pleas to just sit at the hotel room and wallow in her sorrow, Kotone’s mother insisted she go to the park and try to have fun with the other children. She walked to the nearby park, taking in her surroundings. Going to a new area normally excited the young girl, but at this time of grief, there was no chance of happiness filling her mind. She sat down at a bench, isolating herself from the other children.
She stared at the kids for a while before burying her face in her hands. She stayed like that until she heard a small noise next to her. She turned her head to see the source, surprised to see a young girl around her age seated next to her. She curiously raised an eyebrow, wondering what the girl was doing there. She heard the girl speak, and thought about the question. Why are you sitting out? do they not like you or something?
Kotone slowly shook her head, “No, that’s not it...” She trailed off her sentence, leaning her face back into her hands.
