Philippines: 16th Largest Economy by 2050 by HSBC Study
Because of Philippine‘s demographics and rising education standards, the country is set to leapfrog 27 places to become the 16th largest economy by 2050 according to HSBC.
HSBC projects the Philippines economy is poised to grow by an average of 7 percent annually over the next 40 years. Factor this with a robust population and an ever increasing educational system courtesy of the Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP) led K + 12 Initiative. Features of the K + 12 Initiative are as follows:
Kindergarten and 12 years of quality basic education is a right of every Filipino, therefore they must be and will be provided by government and will be free.
Those who go through the 12 years cycle will get an elementary diploma (6 years), a junior high school diploma (4 years), and a senior high school diploma (2 years).
A full 12 years of basic education will eventually be required for entry into tertiary level education (entering freshmen by SY 2018-2019 or seven years from now).
Once fully in place the Philippines will be able to provide a world class educated work force equipped to meet the needs of a global workforce.
