Tree cloud cloud trees
My favorite flower- and the hero of my favorite picture book.
Pencil practice- rain yesterday means many ice-sheathed pine needles
On my way to achieving my desired plant witch aesthetic with 13 non-dead plant pals in my room (and 3 sprouting avocado pits).
I know it's not perfect but I'm pretty proud of this one. Practice with colored pencil.
A colored pencil portrait of my newest plant family. I don't usually name my plants, but this polka-dot plant really seems to like being called Rorschach.
Doodling with colored pencil, because I'm getting frustrated with my materials. Incidentally, this is my first drawing in a new sketchbook. Not terrible.
Schmaltzy, 2am doodle
Penobscot Nation representatives hosted a Standing Rock solidarity event in Augusta today. All the children where handing out little cedar branches.
No-reference squash blossoms, I'm sorry they are terrible.
My sketchbook doubles as a journal, so most pages look something like this. This page was inspired by the public hearing I went to- the voters passed a tax referendum to increase the education budget, but our governor is trying to pass a budget that ignores the referendum, gives a tax cut to wealthiest families, and reduces funding to public education. This page features my frustration and rage. Don't let the empty chairs fool you, though- we filled the hearing room and two overflow rooms. There were over 50 teachers and parents testifying. It was really something great. I just can't draw people.
The kitchen is the best room in the house. Any house.
I went to an ESOL training on Saturday to learn some ways I can help the immigrant population in my area. The training took place at a synagogue. The kitchen was nice.
