brigittelindholm3:
“Lena she came out of my vagina” Brigitte couldn’t help but laugh at her comment. She totally understood where Lena was coming from but she also believed Sophie had a hunger for knowledge she didn’t want to crush.
Plus Brigitte had been brought up different, her mamma and sister’s gave birth at home with family around them. She’d been brought up to believe the human body was nothing to be ashamed of and child birth was something special.
“I would rather her learn about her body from us and not what she hears on the playground” she said not wanting to argue or push her on this. “I’ve always told her that her body is like a machine if she doesn’t know how it works how can she know if something is wrong?” She asked hugging Lena closer.
“Yeah bu’ she wasn’t aware of i’ or was inspectin’ i’ on the way ou’. Her brain was too busy bein’ squished by her skull.” Lena also pointed out, still just feeling kinda weird and nauseous at the thought of her daughter seeing her like that. It was for lovers only. Ifs or buts.
She hadn’t had any siblings around but it wasn’t like she was witheld that information - just told it using diagrams not actually seeing her mum like that.
“Then you can show her your vagina. She’s no’ facetimin’ my doctor or knowing anythin’ about my vagina. Nothin’ bu’ wha’ the doctors tell family or she looks up on a textbook. End of discussion.”
Lena had to end this now before this whole situation made her frustrated with Brigitte and ruining the birth of their newest baby.
The boys laughed squeezing her tightly, Sophie however just moved closer kissing her “never scare us like that again mummy, we need you we all need you” she told her.
“Did you have a nice sleep?” Eli asked holding her hand.
“You should see the new baby mum she looks like you” Charlie said before Will butted I.
“She looks like a prune really” as they all bombarded her with information Brigitte came in with Angela and one of her doctors.
New baby?
Then it came back, confusion included. The last thing she remembered was holding the little one in her arms and then…waking up with the kids around her?
“Well maybe I’m par’ prune, you never know. Maybe tha’s why all our hands go wrinkly in the shower.” She said before looking at Sophie as if to say ‘don’t tell them’. Lena loved letting the boys have their imaginations.
“'N yeah Eli, I did ‘ave a good sleep. Just a li'le thirsty now.” This was whispered in her youngest boy’s ear before gently pressing a kiss to his temple. He didn’t have to know she wasn’t too well.
Speaking of illness, she saw Angela come in and immediately wanted to groan. She hated being in this position with Angela about to nag her. Though she didn’t know what about this time.
Angela took the kids to get some sandwiches, As they left the room she heard Sophie ask if she could see the labs. Brigitte gently held the child who was sleeping soundly in her arms “ready to hold her?” She asked sitting on the bed ready to hand her over.
The baby was wearing a onesie Eli choose with ginger cats on, and a hat that looked like the top of a strawberry Will had brought with his pocket money. “The boys dressed her so don’t blame me” she smiled.
“Course I am.” She said gently, her eyes admiring the beautiful baby in her arms. Oh she was so so beautiful. It made her want to cry.
Lena needed her baby in her arms before she asked any more questions.
“God she’s so beautiful.”
Now she reached to adjust her bed so she was sitting up ready for the little one.
“She looks beautiful she screams like a banshee” Brigitte smiled the tiny baby had a set of lungs on her. She looked at the pair of them resting together at last. They fitted together like a jigsaw.
“We had to bottle feed her, I’m sorry but we had no choice” she knew how it felt to have that special first feed bond. “The doctor say you can still breast feed if you want to try”
“Must’ve passed ou’ like brick. I didn’t mean t’ miss tha’.” Lena said, a little upset in herself that she had missed such a special moment.
“I forgo’ how exhausting this was for you.” The words were for her wife but cooed down to the little baby instead.
At least she was assuming that she just fell asleep.
"You terrified me" she admitted quietly "I thought I lost you" she was used to seeing blood on the battlefield but this was so much more scary.
Brigitte rubbed her hand over legs legs straightening the bed sheet covering her. "I've never been so scared in my life"
