The line is "I'm not dying" because she's standing "in the glow of the vending machine" where she is buying "Bad, bad boys, shiny toy with a price", trying to convince herself it is not killing her to do this again and again, which is why she is with her "head low".

The "(oh yeah, you're right, I want it)" that's being repeated throughout it's again her trying to convince herself she wants this. Which is even more heartbreaking when she says "We say that we'll just screw it up in these trying times" because it's the lies she and her lover are telling themselves...but yet "We're not trying".

The grinning devil is one of the shiny toys with a price. He "looks up" because he's the only one profiting from this entire arrangement. She is not screaming at him, she's screaming at her lover.

I am still very much obsessed with this song. Sorry if this was already said or it's obvious?? But I recently saw people saying they thought that the line was "I'm not buying" because of the vending machine...

She's buying them in a vending machine because there's nothing special about them, you can literally find them anywhere. It says more about them than her 🗣
