Ashley, I thought your story about the burning of the mill was very interesting and kind of seemed like a mysterious story. And i thought it was cool how its a prom tradition to go there and how it's supposedly haunted and all. i just wish i knew what happened to the owners? but it was very interesting to me.

Joanna, I thought it was cool, and really unique how your high school was bold enough to develop all these different groups based of their racial background. i thought it was cool because of how many their were. and also i liked how all these students were proud of where they came from was awesome

Essay Response

After reading through a few of these essays, the one that seemed most interesting in my opinion and stood out was "Spectators Motive's". I like how the author took a select number of students and parents to show the diverse groups that this is all coming from and why they are there at the high school basketball game. Not only was I trying to find out what the genre of his project should be, he had different genres inside his project, the way he labeled these people. They were labeled as once they sat down in the stands including himself, as entertainment, educational, and personal. I agree completely wight he labels he listed. After looking through his poster he made, I noticed that close to none were there for educational purposes and mostly for personal and entertainment. I would have to agree with this genre he chose when it was all said and done, but while reading this i can see why it was tough for him to choose what genre fell into his project. But an "informational poster"  is exactly what it was. Overall, I think this genre was hands down to the best way to explain and also diagram his research, and helped people understand in a simple way what was going on.

My research question by the way.. are zoo's (or toledo zoo) beneficial to society/communities. there are obvious answers to this question but finding what people have to say about it.. not so much.

Just like other classmates have said/posted I find posting on here annoying, and  I’m not sure how many of my sources I’ll actually use, mostly because my question is tough to find on the internet, maybe because it could be an opinionated question. Here is the link to a song that make always makes me think of home whenever I hear it no matter where I am, or what I'm doing. The song is "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Growing up I heard many songs by journey and when I was 8 years old my parents and my cousins all went to a journey concert. It also makes me think of home because my senior year after we beat our rivals on senior night they played this in the locker room and everyone sang it.

This is a picture of my high school’s football helmet. This means the world to me because i gave my heart and soul to this program and i will never forget my brothers who fought on the field with me to the very end. One of my friends, Charlie Harris, has played football with me since day one. We were together from the start and as we were going to lose our last football game I took a knee beside him and said “It’s been 8 long years and this is not how things were supposed to end. We were supposed to win the state championship.” All he had the power to do was give me a hug. Football was my entire life since 5th grade. Whenever I hear the song “Thunderstruck” by ACDC I find myself reminiscing about the good times. All the hot summer days we spent running on the track, all the days we spent in the weight room, and finally all the Friday nights we spent winning because that’s what we did we won. Our football team was a vision of our community. We gave our town new belief that our team could do anything they believed in us and we believed that we could do anything and I will never forgot the last time I strapped up my helmet, put on my shoulder pads, tied up my cleat, and the last time I held my jersey. I am proud to say I loved football and i have never felt do lost when my senior season was finished. I remember crying because I realized I would never play football at my high school ever again. I felt like I lost the most important thing in my life and when I gave my coach my jersey could not get myself to let go. He looked at me and said “You’re a hell of a football player and this season will always be my greatest.” Knowing that he cared for me as his son and that my senior football season would go down as the best season in Napoleon High School history helps me get over the devastating loss. Tradition never graduates but it also never leaves those who have.

Reading this just gave me a blast to the past during my high school days. Although i am still playing football on a college level, some of my best memories of football came from my high school years. My Sophomore year, we won States and were expecting to go back to back. My Junior year we did not live up to those expectations and lost the second round in the playoffs. Senior year no one believed that the team would do as well as we did. As captain of my team I still remember to this day the game against Moeller High School in Cincinnati Ohio. I’m from Cleveland, but we traveled to play this team in Cincinnati. Going into the half, we were down by 21 points, I remember coming out of the locker room at half and telling the referee that they (the other team) did not know what was coming this next half. They came out and scored another touchdown ad now we were trailing by 28 points. We came back and scored 35 unanswered points and left that stadium with a sour taste in the fans mouths. Moeller went on to win States that year and we were the only team to beat them. Winning that game meant everything because it showed that when we came together as a band of brothers, no one could stop us.

Reading this gave me chills, not only because I love football and i still have the opportunity to be playing at the college level but because Im from Toledo and i know a few guys on your team. It just made me start instantly reminiscing about my high school days at St. Johns and my Sophomore year was when I first started and we had 10 Division 1 players on our team and we just kept winning and bonding and that even led to all of us enjoying going to school and just hanging out because our chemistry was so strong from the season, and then we lost in the regional finals to Whitmer on a dropped touchdown pass and to me I feel like it haunts me to this day, and i just fell to my knees and to this day I don't know if I've ever felt so lost.

After all my research about my city, I knew that Katie Holmes who is a famous actress was from Toledo, however, I didn't know she went to the same high school as my sister and my family is really good friends with her Brother. So I guess you could say it's a small world after all.

My first blog on Tumblr, The first day in class we had to draw what we thought our hometown looked like in our eyes. I was born in Toledo, Ohio and my parents still reside at. My map overall was of my neighborhood and it was bad.
