Fremont Street Experience was designed by the Jerde Partnership, and opened December 14, 1995.

In the 1980s, downtown Las Vegas was losing retail and office tenants to the suburbs and gaming revenues to The Strip ... Collaborating with and inspired by the genius of colorful casino mogul Steve Wynn, JERDE presented a plan for the Fremont Street Experience and was later contracted by the city to formulate an implementation plan. A year later JERDE was hired as the architect by the newly created Fremont Street Experience Company.
