Topstitching was 100% a good decision, the first panel in this picture is ironed and pressed with a clapper and as sharp as I can make it and it still looks less clean than the topstitched panel.

I didn't bother changing thread colors since I'm definitely planning to do the gold ribbon over the top, but if I wasn't, it would have been worth the work of changing thread colors to get this looking so crisp

Knitting finished as of last night! Still need to weave in a few ends, wash, and block.

Was aiming for 48” x 60”, came out 39” x 60” so far, but I’m hoping to be able to block it to a little wider and I’m ok losing a few inches of length for that

Work in progress : socks.

I knitted the first one while I was hiking on Santiago's path. And now I'm working on the second one.

Made them with a mystery cashmere blend yarn I bought second-hand and some kid silk mohair I wanted to use up. They are surprisingly comfy and not itchy.

The faux quilt blanket that I have been working on all spring is finally finished. It is going to be a gift for my best friend who is getting married.

It is knitted in brioche with breaks of garter stitch. It has really been a labor of love as it took 3 and a half months or about 250 hours to complete. I have never before attempted a project of this size. The knitting gauge is tiny, as it is made on 2,5mm needles in fingering weight wool yarn. 360 stitches per row.

Next I will be creating a baby blanket using the same stitch pattern, for which I am writing up the pattern. I am knitting it with larger needles and sport weight yarn.

#I can only resist the siren's call of an airy mohair sweater for so long #every so often I have to give in #but is that such a crime??? they're cute and I reeeally like wearing them #this one is double stranded with filcolana tilia in the color... green tea? or matcha? or something?#just checked and it is indeed green tea 👍 I used just over four skeins #it's the woodstock sweater by fiskerknits :)#i want to make another on smaller needles with a more solid yarn #i really like the twisted rib raglan seams on it #knitting #brookie crafts #knitblr #yarnblr

Just washed five different 50-year-old handknit wool sweaters and hoooo boy did they need it. Now I just have to let them finish drying and darn the couple that have holes in them, and then they shall be distributed amongst my family members

#it smells not just like wet wool in here but like wet DIRTY wool #four of the sweater were a dark green so the grime didn't show so bad before the washing #but one is light blue and oh my god it was NASTY #the nastiest of the bunch - certainly by looks #but ALSO certainly by actual amount of dirt and grime in the fabric #i've got a feeling I'm going to have to wash that one again.....#there's two cute kid ones that are going to my cousin's two little boys (she LOVES handknit items)#(if you recall the baby outfit i posted a bit ago - that was for her baby :) )#there's one that was originally my grandfather's but that I'm now hoping to keep #and then a circular yoke cardigan that is barely too small to fit an adult #so i'm hoping to block it out 🙏#oh yeah and then the blue one also :)#all of them are in beautiful stranded colorwork. completely gorgeous #i'll post pics once they're all refreshed !!
