Cowspiracy
Ok so I’m obviously aware that any sort documentary trying to make a call to action is going to be biased. Why wouldn’t it be? But I don’t think that necessarily means that they have their facts wrong or that their claims are false. When it comes to our planet, I think it’s undeniable that something needs to change. The world wasn’t built with the foresight of our incredible advancement. Our unnatural industrialization of the planet is and has to be (because of its scale) taking a toll on what is natural. I think that Cowspiracy provides insight into what I’ve heard rumor in the past to be a major factor of climate change- animal agriculture. In my opinion, it’s really worth a watch.
I guess it was somewhat by coincidence that I watched this soon after I stopped eating meat. I actually stopped after getting sick and from then on it just grossed me out. Totally separate thing, but anyhow... watching Cowspiracy reaffirmed that decision for me from a different angle. While I don’t think restriction in terms of diets are always a healthy decision, I think it’s important to realize that at least reducing meat consumption is a good way to compromise. It goes beyond animal rights. If everyone in the world ate as much meats as American do, our planet would not be able to sustain such a practice for long. Obviously meat is a good source of protein, but it’s also not the only source. A healthy diet can still be maintained without it and there’s lots of evidence to prove that. In an attempt to reduce personal impact (the individual level does matter!) it’s actually quite easy to find alternatives.
Everyone’s entitled to choose for themselves. Just some thoughts. I recommend giving this documentary a watch.

thisismy-reverie IS COMING TO VISIT THIS WEEK!!
I love being horribly straightforward. I love sending reckless text messages (because how reckless can a form of digitized communication be?) and telling people I love them and telling people they are absolutely magical humans and I cannot believe they really exist. I love saying, “Kiss me harder,” and “You’re a good person,” and, “You brighten my day.” I live my life as straight-forward as possible. Because one day, I might get hit by a bus. Maybe it’s weird. Maybe it’s scary. Maybe it seems downright impossible to just be—to just let people know you want them, need them, feel like, in this very moment, you will die if you do not see them, hold them, touch them in some way whether its your feet on their thighs on the couch or your tongue in their mouth or your heart in their hands. But there is nothing more beautiful than being desperate. And there is nothing more risky than pretending not to care. We are young and we are human and we are beautiful and we are not as in control as we think we are. We never know who needs us back. We never know the magic that can arise between ourselves and other humans. We never know when the bus is coming.

A re-edit of an old favorite. Kind of mind-blowing how much my editing process has grown and evolved. Still have much to learn.
