One of my 4k students today: "Wait...you were a kid once??!!"

Listen child, I still consider myself a kid.

One of my 7th graders got a superior+ on her solo last night (which means basically one of the best in center) and when I asked her to give her some advice to some trumpet newcomers she grinned from ear to ear and said “Work hard cause it’ll all be worth it.” I learned later that she struggles a lot with depression and that this was the boost she needed. I’m not crying you’re crying :’)

Ways to Say “I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I’M DOING” without saying it

“It’s been quite an adjustment. I’m not quite used to this grade level.”

“I’m still learning as I go, but I’m doing my best.”
