i love George Pemba's painting style. his painting style references impressionism and expressionism. i like the subject matter on his paintings (the portrayal of people and their lives). his paintings are not simply documentations of people and surroundings but consist of the uncertainties and contradictions that were part of life in South Africa at that time.
the themes of his artworks are also striking as they are composed of experiences of daily life, cultural traditions, human rights, politics and religious commentary.
