NUT! ’ the contact is sudden, hands swiftly covering two bright eyes in a playful gesture that cassis couldn’t remember the last happened. how long had it been since he’d left will-o-wisp in his time? whatever the amount was, it certainly felt long enough for him to miss his friends. to both his joy and dismay, here he’d found one of them and decided to act according to his usual fun and friendly self. ‘ you’ve got exactly ten seconds to guess who’s covering those big ol’ peepers you got there! now, ten... nine... ’

‘ kin??? ’ there’s a brief pause, a moment’s thoughts as a hand reaches to grasp his chin... that meant family, right? to his understanding, his only living blood-related family was his mother, while the other parts would be vaguely filled in by his father’s co-workers... this individual’s face wasn’t familiar in the slightest, aside from the vague resemblance to his own self. wait. was this his dad? ...nah. cassis looked a lot like his mother, anyways. ‘ nope. don’t think so, buddy. if i’m thinkin’ the right kind of kin, then we definitely aren’t. kinda weird how we look a lot alike, though... it’s like you’re me, just older and barely taller. ’
with the note on canon ages, cassis’ age will be going back to 16.

‘ a question? ’ it’s sudden, a break midst their usual conversation over a few beverages in the middle of summer with a table between them and an umbrella overhead. a glass of lemonade tasted sweeter in the summer heat it seemed. with his hair pulled back and the rarity of him wearing anything but his violet onesie and vest, it’s just a normal hot day with a normal pal to share it with… a normal day to talk about internet memes.
‘ bofa deez nuts? ’ he’d heard about it, yeah. it was hard not to once he’d gotten internet. the various videos of people his age screaming about how they got other people with a word so simple, a word so easily disguised as an acronym for some sort of organization. the “gotcha” statement they’d use was always the icing on the cake and boy did that dessert seem appetizing. that’s when he spot his opportunity: couldn’t he trick eirika with something similar?
oh, the tell-tale sign of mischief makes its mark on the teen, grin growing wider with each passing second once he comes to the realization, the boy suddenly changing from a relaxed attitude to something excited. ‘ oh, yeah, i know what it means. i’ve seen it on the ‘net. ’ it’s difficult to keep back a laugh, but he manages, trying to keep as much of his cool in this scorching summer. cassis could always blame the sweat from his anticipation on the heat itself. ‘ well, i don’t know how easy it’d be to explain. it’s a little tough of a concept, but the simplest i can describe it would hafta be…

‘ heeeeeey, roomie! ’ it’s a casual slide towards her from behind the couch, a simple hover around with arms crossed and body leaned forward. ‘ soooo... i know we don’t know each other too well, but i figured hey --- what better way to get to know one another than a little group project? ’ moving to stand in front of her, he gestures towards the stairs. ‘ basically, i just broke my room’s window and i need a little help patchin’ it up.’
it’s humiliating to admit it, but he has to if he’s going to get any help... plus, it was a chance to learn more about one of the people he lived with. ‘ all i need is someone to help me buy some supplies to cover it up since i cleaned up all the glass, so do y’mind accompanying me? i could really use the extra hands to carry ‘em. ’

❛ … gingerbread? ❜ if only for a mere moment, oswald’s eyes light up. it seemed clear he had an affinity for a certain type of cookie. ❛ red bean paste is not something i am familiar with, however i have memorized a variety of cookie and gingerbread recipes. do you have something i can write with? ❜ he wasn’t entirely sure they’d be able to find all the needed ingredients for some of these, especially given his home world likely had different methods of making these things. but the knight had a feeling that they’d have to make do with whatever they could find.
‘ gingerbread’s fine by me. any kind of sugar’s good in my book. ’ but something to write with... something to write on, for that matter... that was going to be difficult, considering cassis never really carried either. it’s a moment of thought, arms folded over each other as he thinks... and thinks... and thinks... and then an idea strikes. ‘ maybe we could just take a chunk outta the ground an’ carve it like that? i can write at least 3 things if i go fast enough, since my magic is all about slicing and dicing. you think that’d be alright? ’

A grey hand extended from Mangu’s jacket and shook Cassis’s hand. “Demon Mangu. And yes. I’m a professional. I play guitar for a band. Though… The others aren’t here. So you’re stuck with me.”
‘ demon mangu? cool name! ’ there’s a momentary death grip before cassis released it... just a little friendly hand crush. ‘ wouldn’t really call this stuck, but here’s hoping all your friends come on down so i get the chance to see you all in action! what kinda stuff do you guys play? i’m not too knowledgeable on the whole music scene, but i know a few things from a classmate of mine. ’

‘ a recipe, yeah! ’ words repeated back and forth between the two silver haired young men, he says it in confirmation --- a recipe, to cook with and to create something tasty for those around to enjoy. plus, cooking was a fun activity to do. ‘ i was thinkin’ that we could try making some of the stuff i had back home, like a gummy frog or somethin’ since they aren’t native here... but if we can’t do that, some cookies would be cool. i’m partial to some good gingerbread or white chocolate. or maybe you got one with red bean paste? haven’t had any since we got here. kinda missing the flavor right about now, but i’m not picky. ’

HIS WORDS OFFER SOME COMFORT WITH HER — friends, she hasn’t let the thought of that cross her mind… perhaps, it was her way of proving to herself that she wanted to find her way home. Perhaps, it would offer her some merit to make some friends. His life… it sounds nice. Those short times when she forged her identity as the mercenary, Erina, has been some of the simplest times in her life. Indeed, she was under the guise to escape General Valter of Grado, the bloodthirsty general who hunted her akin to a predator to a prey. However, it was then that she was alleviated of the burden of being a princess. After all, no princess would be allowed to roam like that. The life of Prince Joshua, at times, was a life she wished she had… but she couldn’t. She wouldn’t have allowed herself to do that. It would be a disservice to leave her father and her brother behind.
“ I’m from a country called Renais. In my world, it is settled in the continent of Magvel. I have actually tried magic… I don’t recall why I never continued my studies in it. I was actually pretty good at it, better than my brother… or my ability to use the sword. What about you? ” Her lips curve up to a slight smile, bringing the brim of the cup of hot cocoa against her lips. This is so sweet, but so good. She did not know that she needed this in her life. “ You said you travelled the world? What did you see? ”
it seems what he said worked. her mood brightened and boy, was he glad it did. cassis takes another sip of his hot cocoa and listens well... renais? magvel? the names are unfamiliar, but he can’t say he’s not interested. damn, he wished he could travel universes. maybe if he remembers this all when he gets back, he can ask miss madeleine for lessons... how did that work again?
it’s a great feeling to have someone be interested in your life story... or really, your adventure stories. there’s a tinge of guilt though --- ‘ well... i hadn’t quite gotten the chance to really go yet. the last thing that happened before i ended up here was my goodbyes. ’ but she’s in luck. ‘ i did go on a whole adventure to another realm, though. 3 of ‘em! not like me an’ my friends wanted to, but we kinda had to. the whole “save the world, end a war the adults started” spiel. ’ at the time, it wasn’t as friendly as he might be making it sound. ‘ we met a lotta people along the way --- saved a dog romance, destroyed enigma trying to possess all of us by offering what we want most... fun stuff! two of my friends got all messed up. heck, one of ‘em got possessed by the one a rank below enigma king and nearly tried to destroy the world! ’ there’s a big ol’ laugh. ‘ it was pretty exciting. our principal wanted us to get good at magic by putting us in that kinda dangerous situation. i’m glad i’m powerful now because of that guy, but i can’t say i’m all that big a fan now. you feel me? ’ rocking back and forth in his seat, he continues talking.
‘ and hey --- if you’re ever interested in magic help, i can give you a hand. you might’ve guessed, but i used to go to an academy for that kinda stuff! maybe it won’t be the same as how the magic in your world is, but i’m sure i could give you a few pointers. in exchange, i’d like to hear more about your world or something. ’

It’d turned out to be a pretty nice day out once the sky’d cleared up and the sun came back out, which seemed to drag out all sorts of people to the beach. With the sun, it kinda felt like a vacation- if she wasn’t all alone.
Then again isn’t this what adults get to do? Go away all on their own?
Chibiusa stood ankle deep in the water, feeling the cold water rise and fall against her toes. Even if it was what adults did… it felt kind of lonely to not have anyone to play with. Like Mama told her- she had to try and reach out to people to make friendships. It was up to her!
“Hey! I’m Usagi Tsukino,” Out of habit, the small child continued, “but I guess you can call me Chibiusa. Did you want to build a castle with me?”

cassis couldn’t quite remember the last time he’d been at the beach. the quiet sea, waves hitting the shower and the sun lighting the ocean reminded him of his companions --- everyone he’d known, back on that fateful day. the warmth he felt here was different than the chill he’d experienced at the camp. it was nicer, and that’s what brought a smile to his face... that and the kid that seemed to be a friendly one.
it’s a bit of a surprise to see someone so young by herself. maybe he’s one to talk, with a life like his own, but the point stood that it’s weird. did the island take anyone, of any age? that did worry him a bit, but he shrugs it off. she wanted something, right?
‘ mmmm... chibiusa, huh? i’m cassis lumberyard. ’ there’s a quiet and near immediate comparison to one of his old friends in his head. there’s a big ol’ feeling that she’d get along well with a lot of ‘em. ‘ i don’t have much better t’do, so i guess makin’ a castle just has to go on my to - do list! lead the way to where we’re building this thing. ’

Mangu paused, wondering if he should take offense or not, considering the fact the other was offering to give him one of this place’s currency. But he shook his head after a few moments. “Don’t waste your stars on a person who’s practicing… Save them for a real performance.” He said, standing up. “I’ll accept the stars then.” He mumbled, the snake remaining where it was next to his feet. “You are?”
so he wasn’t one of those street musicians? oh well. that was his mistake and he didn’t care THAT much. ‘ if you’re so sure about not takin’ my money, then alright. ’ instead of giving him stars, cassis gave him his hand, extending it in hopes of getting a simple handshake. ‘ the name’s cassis lumberyard. i’m a blade mage. ’ the mention of “a real performance” does connect a few dots in his head. ‘ sooooo are you some kinda professional then? and is the snake there your pet? ’

Looking at the ‘ smart phone ’ in his hands, Pit couldn’t help but stare at it blankly. The screen was too bright and there was way too many buttons, and Pit had absolutely no idea how it worked. What was a camera ? What was a Candy Crush ? Either way, he hoped the older male at least had an idea.
‘ how it works...? ’ uhhhh... cassis stands there with a bit of that “deer in headlights” look, put a little on the spot with a question he didn’t really know the answer to. it was a weird device he got too --- he hadn’t really done anything with it quite yet. what he did know was that it was a machine. that’s it. ‘ i've got a friend who could probably crack this case, buuuuut... he’s not around. so let’s try the next best thing --- ’ from there, he reaches into his pocket and retrieves it himself, turning the smartphone on. ‘ we press each and every button to see what happens. ’

“I miss my old guitar…..” Mangu groaned out loud before looking at the guitar he had with him. It was an acoustic guitar, not electric, which he was used to. He hung his head and sat down to play some music. He had to make sure he didn’t play as hard as he used to, but habits die hard.
it was a simple stroll around the city. understanding the layout in an unknown place was key, and cassis always made sure to scout and explore the second he had that chance... during this chance, though, he came across something interesting. this guy was good! ‘ hey! are you one of those musicians that hang around the street for money? ’ maybe not the greatest question, but cassis stated what seemed obvious anyways. time for him to rummage through his pockets. ‘ hold on ooooone sec --- i think i’ve got some of those star things on me... ’

cassis lumberyard, a 16 year old blade mage, lookin’ for a good time and a treasure or two around the world! ( or really, the island, considering his current position. ) below’s a list of stuff that can happen.

1. friends:
cassis is a very mixed bag of a person. on one hand, he’s a loyal friend and won’t hesitate to do a lot for you. on the other, he does tend to be the type that doesn’t help you emotionally too much and rather works more as like... someone who’ll help you just solve them? he’s pretty chill and not the kind of person to get too heated about something ( for the most part ). he’s a great guy to talk to! it’s pretty easy to be his friend, too.
edit: typically speaking, cassis makes friends with people around his age who like to have fun. most often are they considered a sort of bad crowd, or a mischievous sort of group. other times, they just happen to be the more relaxed kinds of people. because of his maturity, he can also get along with adults, but it’s to be noted that he’s still Young so if your muse is significantly older / more mature, there’s a chance they won’t get along.
2. enemies:
you... can’t really tell when you’re his enemy? he’s more passive aggressive and likely to avoid you. unless you’re a person he REALLY hates, he’ll still talk to you, but if you are he’ll just... pass you by and ignore you unless you really try and start something. it’s hard to get under his skin, but people who’d insult his parents or friends would certainly get a few down votes in his head. ( and really if u call him weak / just a kid he’ll get pretty riled up on that too )
edit: most people who end up his enemy are just people who he really just. can never agree with. like villains or people who really really hate the concept of friendship, or those that consider him really, really weak. putting others down for no reason also gets on his nerves.
3. familial:
looking for a brother figure, younger or older? LOOK NO FURTHER! one of my favorite things about cassis is that he’d definitely be a fun brotherly character, as he’s one of the more mature members of his class. he’s done an alright job raising himself when his family wasn’t there, but he’s a little sad he didn’t get the chance to have the whole family bonding thing.
edit: parental figures will definitely have a harder time happening since cassis is an abrasive type of individual at times and does have a general disdain for authority outside of his actual mother.

4. magic solidarity:
use magic? well, that’s almost a guaranteed like from him. cassis is interested in almost any type of magic. the only time he wouldn’t be as interested is if it was magic of an element stronger than his, but even then that’d just make him feel competitive. ultimately, though, he’d think whatever you have is cool and be interested in learning more. i guess this bleeds into friendship?
5. rivals:
boy does he love to spar actually. he states that he wants to become the best in 1 on 1 fights especially, so if you’d be willing to be something of a rival, feel free to declare that! he can enjoy a good competition from time to time and you’re more than welcome to be the one to propose that. as long as things don’t get too serious, he’s in it to win it. if things do get too serious, though, it’ll probably bleed into enemies... he likes friendly competition, not serious competition.
