Good question!

I know the answer but I’m a wreck, so I can’t bring myself to publicly say it yet. Sorry!! (For now at least, all that matters is that Paintbrush does not have a crush on Lightbulb.) -Mod

Lightbulb runs up behind Paintbrush, hugging them from the back. “Heya Painty!” She says in her normal cheerful tone. (( the-sharpest-bulb •w• ))

“Hey, Lightbulb! How’s it going?”

“I figured out how to skip rocks today!”

She smiles happily.

“Oh, really?”

They thought for a bit.

“I never got the hang of it, now that I think about it. How’d you do it?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Come with me and I’ll show you!”

She grabs their hand and start walking back to the lake, dragging them behind her.

“If you say so!”

They aren’t quite easy to teach.

The two get to the lake and Lightbulb immediately grabs two flat rocks, handing one to Paintbrush.

“Here!”

[brushfire-embers]

They took the rock.

“…What do I do?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Okay so what ya do is you put the rock between your thumb and middle finger. You put your pointer finger on the edge of the rock. Your thumbs gotta be on time so make sure it’s not wrapped around. And then you-“

She quickly throws the rock into the water, the rock skipping a bit.

“-throw it!”

“Whoa, ok!”

They grabbed the rock the way Lightbulb instructed them to. Then they threw the rock in the water. It didn’t skip. They threw it too slowly.

“Oh.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Ya gotta throw it quicker, Painty!”

She picks up another rock and goes to throw it.

“Whoa-!”

She slips off the edge of the dock and falls into the water.

“Lightbulb!!”

They quickly jump in the water and grab her arm. Then they swim back on land and help her get out.

“Oh my gosh, Lightbulb, are you ok??”

They were really worried about her.

“Ugh… I’m-“

She coughs up seaweed into her hand. You looks at it for a bit before putting it back in her mouth and crunching on it.

“Yeah I’m fine!”

They hugged her.

“Don’t do that again… Please.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

She blinks a few times, a bit thrown off guard by Paintbrush’s behavior. She hugs back, gently patting their back. A light blush appears on her face.

“Okay! I’ll be more careful next time, Painty!”

She smiles.

“Thanks..”

They let her go.

“Uh.. Sorry if that was a bit too sudden for you.”

They didn’t seem to notice the light blush on their friend’s face.

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Oh it’s fine! I hug you out of nowhere almost all the time! It’s only fair.”

She shrugs.

“Yea, I guess…”

They could tell things are getting awkward.

[the-brightest-bulb]

She gets up, extending her hand out to help Paintbrush up.

“Hey lets go do something else! We don’t want me falling in the water again, right?”

She giggles.

“Heh, yea…”

They took her hand and got up.

[the-brightest-bulb]

She starts to walk, still holding their hand without realising.

“Whatcha wanna go do?”

[brushfire-embers]

They didn’t mind that.

“I don’t really have anything in mind. Whatever you choose.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Hmmmm….”

She starts to think.

“Oh! I found this real pretty place somewhere in the forest! Wanna go check it out?”

[brushfire-embers]

“Sure!”

They didn’t question it. For them, this was just Lightbulb being… Lightbulb.

“Alrighty lets go!”

Her pace quickens.

[brushfire-embers]

“Alright!”

They weren’t quite used to running, so if she gets too quick, they might not be able to keep up with her!

-Time skip-

They make it to a more darker end of the forest. Definitely not somewhere where you’d expect anything ‘pretty’ to be.

They were getting suspicious.

“Are you sure you’re going the right direction?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Yeah yeah I’m sure!”

Lightbulb looks around. She’s nervous but it’s not obvious, her smile covers it.

“Yeah…”

“What is the place like then?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“I don’t wanna spoil the surprise!”

She pulls Paintbrush into a different direction, taking a few turns.

“Alright this is the spot!”

They stand in front of a wall of a bunch of vines and leaves.

They were a bit confused.

“Is it behind these or..?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Yeah it’s behind!”

She smiles brightly.

[brushfire-embers]

“Uhh, ok..”

They moved the vines with their free arm.

[the-brightest-bulb]

Behind the vines there were trees with all sorts of colored flowers entangled around them. There were a bunch on the floor too. The area was brighter than the one they were in before, as well as there being a few animals like birds.

“Whatcha think, Painty?”

It took them a bit to get their eyes used to the light. They stared at the area.

“It’s.. Pretty, I guess.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

She frowns.

“Whatcha mean ‘I guess’? You don’t like it?”

Dang. If Painty doesn’t like it then I just wasted their time…

She thinks to herself.

[brushfire-embers]

“I don’t not like it! I just… I don’t really have an opinion on it.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Oh okay… You wanna hang out here and talk for a bit or head back home?”

She smiles.

[brushfire-embers]

They shrugged.

“I’m ok with whatever you want.”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Okay!”

Lightbulb grabs their hand and starts leading them back home. She looks up at the sky, noticing the Are is darker than usual.

“It’s getting pretty dark now.”

[brushfire-embers]

Their stomach growled.

“..And I’m hungry. Do you want me to make you something when we get back?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

She nods happily.

“Yes!”

Her whole body lights up so they don’t end up bumping into anything.

They shut their eyes for a bit, for they didn’t expect that.

“Do you have a preference?”

[the-brightest-bulb]

“Nah. Surprise me!”

She starts walking, still holding Paintbrush.

“Gotcha..”

They started thinking. What’s something she’d like? Something that they’d happily eat as well, because they didn’t want to wait too much before they got to eat as well. Maybe a pizza? But what kind? Or they could go with something simple, even if it’s a bit out of the ordinary. Maybe cereal? That’s easy to make. The thought of food was making them drool.

The two eventually get out the forest. Lightbulb looks up at the dark sky, starting to daydream. She starts humming.

“Whoa—“

She trips on a rock.

They instinctively pull her towards them.

[the-brightest-bulb]

She just barley touches the floor before Paintbrush pulls her close. She blushes brightly but isn’t noticeable through her bodies glow.

“Lightbulb, are you ok?? Be more careful, please!”

They were worried about her.

[the-brightest-bulb]

“O-Okay…”

She tries to compose herself.

“Alright let’s go!”

She grabs Paintbrushes hand and starts walking again. Her walking was more quicker than it was before.

They were watching closely to make sure she doesn’t get hurt.

The two made it to the hotel without Lightbulb tripping on anything or hurting herself. She holds the door open for Paintbrush.

They went inside and hurried for the kitchen. They were starving at this point.

She follows behind them and sits down at the table.

[Time skip]

They got to the table with two bowls of cereal.

“I know it isn’t a typical dinner, but I’m starving and I do not want to wait any longer.”

“I don’t mind.”

She grabs her spoon and digs in.

They smiled slightly. Then they started eating as well.

[the-brightest-bulb]

She finishes her cereal quickly. She checks the clock on the wall for the time and sees that it’s really late.

“I should get going.”

She gets up and puts her bowl in the sink.

[brushfire-embers]

“Oh ok. Bye, Lightbulb!”

They waved-goodbye.

She smiles and waves back before leaving.

So Painty, hows Baxter doing?

“He’s doing good! I let Lightbulb have him back when she came in the hotel, but she still lets me take care of him from time to time.”
