I think a lot of the shallow, surface-level disagreements on this topic come from an outright refusal of absolutist critics (regardless of their stance, anti or anti-anti-anti-anti whatever) to deconstruct the word enjoy.

There’s a critical distinction between using “enjoy” to mean “I think exploring this dynamic is worthwhile because, handled thoughtfully, it can teach us a lot about these characters, about their emotional composition, about boundaries and how relationships can devolve or shapeshift, about how environments can erode or repair or otherwise determine relationship arcs, about devastation, upheaval, survival, and other facets of what it means to be human” versus using “enjoy” to mean “fuck yeah abuse that’s hot”
